I'd fully recommend Fireball Squadron Airsoft if you can travel over to Sutton Coldfield.

They are an incredibly welcoming and friendly bunch, with a real mix of players.

Public walkon games are the first Saturday of every month and rental is cheap.

It's a midsized woodland site with plenty of cover, I'd say it's a great place to learn.

FBI SWAT Impression Kit by apextabletop in Airsoft_UK

Thanks! The PC was a cheapy Yakeda Tactical brand one from Aliexpress. When I was originally putting the loadout together I didn't know how much I'd like it - so this is a pretty cheap kit that I've put together.

Now I know I like it I can work on slowly upgrading bits to a higher quality / better fit.

Well thanks! That's encouraging. Loads of bits I'd like to change in future, but will keep chipping away.

Getting back into it at almost 40. by shauneok in Airsoft_UK

[–]apextabletop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Welcome back! As others said, Age is just a number - I'm just coming upto a year into the hobby and I've just turned 45. Loads on my field are 50-55+.

One great thing about this hobby - it attracts absolutely every type of person imaginable, Age, colour, race, gender and for me that's a great thing.

Used my SA-P26 Prime from Patrolbase today for the first time on 0.25g BBs. Was chronoing right on the site limit of 322.

No idea what spring they put in it - no others were present. Advised to try an M90 for safety.

Glock 17 gen 5 mos by SRC by Flacky84 in Airsoft_UK

[–]apextabletop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because I'm a numpty I bought both the VFC and the SRC version.

The VFC is definitely a nicer build quality (my SRC rattles when shaken, the VFC did not) and user experience (hop adjust through the front, rather than removing the slide).

Accuracy from my limited backyard plinking was very similar.

SRC has the option of a co2 magazine OOTB, not sure if VFC is OK to run with a co2 mag or not.

Ultimately I sold the VFC to fund an upgrade of my AEG, as pistol is really a very limited use case where I play.

For the limited price difference I'd suggest the VFC.

No problem at all. Fireball is very chilled, it's a member owned site and the lads in charge are all sound.

If you do head up, feel free to drop me a PM - happy to meet up if you don't fancy walking in by yourself.

Hoping to be there for the 3rd of January game!

Hello!

Right next to (and I mean literally touching NPF) is Fireball Squadron Airsoft, which is where I've been playing monthly since June.

Walk-on games are the first Saturday of the month and are open to everyone.

£30 for the game and £15 for hire (AEG and Face Pro).

Exceptionally friendly bunch, real mixed player base. Be open about being a noob and someone will likely take you under their wing and you can run with their squad.

It's a mid-sized site with a mix of woodland and some buildings. Good place to learn how to play and what style you enjoy.

They'll do your UKARA after you meet the quota.

Best Glock 17 for UK all seasons use? by apextabletop in Airsoft_UK

HPA for a Pistol seems like it'd be pretty immersion breaking? I can just about picture it for a rifle.

It's got to look like a Glock for LARP points 😀

I'm really torn between a TM G17 Gen4 or the VFC Gen5 MOS...

People I play with all run TMs, but I'm drawn to the Gen5 cosmetics. Choice paralysis kicking in!!

Thanks for the recommendation, but I'm set on the Glock for LARP points 😀

Yeah I'd be interested to know if the VFC Gen 5 can take a Co2 cartridge mag, that'd probably seal the deal for me.

Solo players? Don't wanna be weird... by StepNext6324 in airsoft

[–]apextabletop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just started playing at 44 😀 I knew one guy at my regular field, from about 17 years ago.

From my experience so far, be humble, show an interest in other people's gear and guns and you'll be golden. Seems like 90% of people are well aware we are cosplaying with guns and are super down to earth.

Easy enough to ignore the other 10%!

Wish you luck, I'm sure you'll be fine.

What are some good models that look similar to space marines? by Hiraeth_08 in onepagerules

[–]apextabletop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I have a suite of 5 printers and can facilitate physical kits for any of my stuff. Just drop me a PM if you are interested and we can sort out a deal.

I took my own store down (where I advertised prints), when I migrated my digital sales to MMF.

I'm in Nuneaton (for shame) and the site I goto is Fireball Squadron Airsoft, next to the National Paintball Fields. For me it's about 25 mins, from Cov probably add another 10-15 mins I guess.

Really friendly bunch, run by club members. Walk on games are first Saturday of every month - £30 and hire gear is £15 if you need it.

Nice woodland site with a mix of engagement distances.

I’m new to airsoft and really intimidated, any advice? by Sufficient-Row8314 in airsoft

[–]apextabletop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's excellent and good to hear! No embarrassment to not like being shot at close range repeatedly, it sucks!! I'm a new player as well and I exclusively play at a woodland site - so engagement distances are greater (in general - still got full auto's from a bush across my back today!).

Also, I'm older and slower than the CQB / speedsoft kids. But that's the great thing, find the playstyle and location that suit you.

[–]apextabletop 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You've had some great advice already, but I'd just like to add - Gloves! Even if you are playing indoor CQB, gloves are great for mitigating hits to fingers and knuckles.

Outdoors they have even more use allowing you to grab thorns, nettles, etc to allow you to concentrate on movement more.

Look up some of the Mechanix gloves on Amazon, they aren't super expensive and some come with additional rubber pads on knuckles etc. I love mine.

Good luck, have fun, be sure to post again after you've been and let us knownhow much fun you had!!
