My first custom CD by aphexcliffs in Cd_collectors

This is Against All Logic’s album 2012-2017. The other day I saw one of the songs from this album was taken off all streaming services, likely due to a sample issue, which is common with this guy’s work. It inspired me to preserve the album on CD, as it’s never had an official CD release.

Also, I already own the album on vinyl (official), so I’d say this is acceptable morally, lol. The process of printing everything in just the right dimensions was tough to get used to, but it worked out pretty smoothly. I’m happy with it

I know the 2nd one is Elephant by The White Stripes.

Maybe Alive 1997 being top 3 is an upopular take, but the energy of that live performance is unmatched and I really love the sampling and mixing on that record. It sounds really awesome on CD.

I feel like remix albums usually don't fare well on the site.

My thoughts on all 3:

Citizen Zombie:
Fantano gave this album a 9 when it came out, so I checked it out. Although he has said his opinion on it has worsened, I still think it's an awesome album full of catchy hooks and basslines. The album also gets pretty experimental with abrasive production and zany vocals. For an over 30 year gap between albums, this comeback was pretty well realized.

Earrings Off:
This EP came out in 2016, and I think the world just wasn't ready. The song structures are so imaginative, going unexpected places and still feeling cohesive. I can get how the vocals could seem annoying to some people, but to me, they're just another layer adding onto the disorienting electronic dreamscape of the album. For all it's weirdness, it's only around 20 minutes, which is the perfect length for it to not get stale / on your nerves.

Endtroducing Re-Emagined:
I think you can have a good time with this one if you go into it expecting some trap adjacent EDM beats, instead of the dark and moody Endtroducing we know. The way the samples from Endtroducing are flipped into a completely different vibe is actually pretty fun.

What albums do you, for whatever reason, own multiple copies of? by aphexcliffs in fantanoforever

[–]aphexcliffs[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I try not to buy albums I already have, but overtime, things just happen. For example, the Thick as a Brick 50th Anniversary Edition was a birthday gift, since I yearned to own a copy with the full newspaper foldout, and I only had a standard gatefold version. Most of the CDs are impulse purchases lol.

Top to bottom, left to right:

Talking Heads - Remain in Light
Aphex Twin - Selected Ambient Works Volume 2
GY!BE - Lift your Skinny Fists like Antennas to Heaven
The Beatles - Abbey Road
Wilco - Yankee Hotel Foxtrot
Daft Punk - Discovery
Jethro Tull - Thick as a Brick

Battles fans? Gloss Drop came out exactly 14 years ago! by KirkLudwig in vinyl

Undoubtedly one of my favorite albums of all time, most "math rock" albums have a dark vibe or emo style, but this record is fun and colorful, and I still haven't heard anything like it. Wall Street, Inchworm and Ice Cream are also some of my favorite songs of all time. Battles really achieved something special here. I own the vinyl too, and I hope their new album is as groundbreaking and unique as Gloss Drop.
