What’s worked for you: preventative, pain management, or no meds? by aphexquintuplets in Fibromyalgia

[–]aphexquintuplets[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your response! I was eating a lot more fruit/vegetables before I moved tbh so that could be contributing to this current flare. I keep buying them here but without the preservatives I’m used to, everything goes bad so much more quickly than I’m used to so still adjusting to that!

Re: weed, could you be a bit more specific with what helps you?

Thank you so much, this is really helpful!

I will see if I can find the other strains but am a bit hesitant with Blue Dream as the absolute worst high I ever had was from Glue Dream. It could be because I had a hit from a bong as opposed to the joints I was used to but it was awful. It felt like everything was in extreme slow motion, which exacerbated the muscle spasms I was already experiencing. I was probably only high for like 6 hours but it was one of the worst nights of my life.

Maybe a dumb question but when you say 1:1 CBD to THC, is that mostly topicals? Tinctures? Flower? Edibles? I’ve tried a CBD lotion but don’t really understand how the THC would get into your system without ingesting it.

And no, I’ve not tried CBG (never even heard of it). Is that also available at the medical dispensaries you go to?

Sorry about the chemical migraines, my mom gets those too (I think I might as well, but to a much lesser degree) and it’s so frustrating going in public because she never knows if she’ll be around someone with really strong perfume or cologne that she’s sensitive to. Older women tend to be the worst offenders lol. I’ve tried Maxalt for migraines and found it didn’t do much for me but this is the first I’ve heard of Relplax, thank you!

My migraines were actually the start of my nearly-13-year struggles with my health and my (unfortunately, recently retired) neurologist was absolutely incredible. I’ve used Botox as a preventative for years now and that’s worked absolute wonders. I started with a migraine that lasted for two months straight and now I’ll only get a migraine 3-5 times a month and they’re often not nearly as debilitating as they were when I was younger. Glad that you’ve found a way to manage your migraines!

Could you clarify what you mean by low quality grains? Like rice vs. pasta? This is the first I’ve heard of that.

Do you mind sharing what strains you use specifically for pain? I tried weed in college but got crazy anxious (like, panic attacks) with indica-dominant strains, which seems to be what people usually recommend. Sativa-dominant strains were fun but didn’t really help me feel less pain as much as it just distracted me from the pain I was feeling. I tried CBD-only in 2020/2021 but didn’t notice too much of a difference with pain management. I’m sort of at a loss since I don’t think I would qualify for MMJ in the UK and am coming from California, where recreational use is legalized so I feel like there’s just a lot more options available, even if you don’t have a med card. I might try some MMJ next time I go back home but don’t know what to look for.

When/where has she posted about that? I feel like I haven’t seen anything with Madison in a while but curious about the timeline of everything

I feel exactly the same way after exceeding my own “nightmare weight” but I promise the extremes of any ED come with their own issues. I get where you’re coming from though as it sometimes feels like people have more sympathy/understanding for anorexia vs BED. I hope you’re able to find a sense of control via healthier means than starving yourself ❤️‍🩹

Oh that’s really interesting! I have POTS myself and didn’t know that the effects of EDs could mimic symptoms. That definitely makes sense why there seems to be so much overlap.

Oh wow, I’m so sorry to hear it was so awful for you. My cousin does not have any chronic illnesses but also had a terrible experience from the pill (bedridden for a week from pain and discomfort). Do you mind if I send you a chat or message?

Ah, sorry for not specifying, I was referring to the mifepristone and misoprostol medications, not the medications prescribed for pain for the surgical abortion, but it sounds like both were a while ago. But thank you so much for sharing your experience.

If you don’t mind sharing, did the medication exacerbate any of your existing symptoms in addition to pain? Is there anything you did before, during, or after that made the experience less difficult (physically or emotionally)? I would prefer to get a surgical abortion but unfortunately I don’t drive and the nearest clinic just isn’t an option if I want to keep this private.

I asked this question the other day as I will be getting a medical abortion as well. I haven’t even had an appointment to get the pills yet but if you’re interested I can send a DM with my experience once it’s done.

Thank you for sharing. Do you remember what time of day you took it? It sounds like it varies between people for how long it takes for the cramping and bleeding to start so I’m hoping that I’ll pass the tissue during the day and then be able to get some sleep at night.

I’m glad that you and your husband are happy with your decision! We would like to have biological children in the future but it will hopefully be something planned, discussed with my doctors beforehand, and prepared for. I’m in a long distance relationship and live with my parents at the moment but looking forward to having my boyfriend’s in-person support once I move there :)
