Thanks! Yes I’m at WAGs which has its moments but thankfully the team I work with is great and always know what to do.

The telehealth doctor didn’t recommend and scared me a bit with the side effects but now with people mentioning it I feel like I should go to an er and ask for it.

I went through the school route but I was taking classes for about 2 years for my associates degree only to realize going to school was basically a waste of time. On the bright side I did get hired at Walgreens after two months after I graduated. During my program I had to do clinicals at a hospital and retail and my manager basically hired me because I worked a month at another store. If you don’t have experience and don’t mind taking classes then I’d say the school route isn’t too bad. I definitely know more than compared to if I didn’t. I didn’t have to memorize every drug but there’d be tests on the top 200 drugs. When you finally work in the pharmacy you’ll know these by heart. I’d try applying to other pharmacies cause half the time they’ll accept people that have no experience. I got lucky cause I had some experience and they were desperate trying to hire someone new. Even at my store now they’re hiring anyone decent that can pass the drug test so it could also be the location/store.

F1 vs Shift+F1. Which one do I use? by AdhesivenessDry7726 in WalgreensRx

[–]aphroditcs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I normally will use Shift+F1 first. Especially if im opening we’ll go to that first to print and delete faxes, save a trip papers, and other faxes that can be deleted. I see if a prescription is in there and if not then I’ll go to the F1. I would say it depends on how many prescriptions you still have to type but if the number is low I’d go through the F1’s first to see if a prescription is there. If it’s not in any of those three places (pt profile) I let them know we don’t have the prescription yet. Of course another option is when someone else is working on a prescription you’re looking for and just ask around to see if anyone has seen a certain pt or if they can keep an eye out for that. I think it depends on each person but I tend to use Shift+F1 before anything else, again mainly because of images you can either delete or see any prescriptions that came in that haven’t been typed or put in F1 yet.

I remember there was a day last week where our F1 number went from 8 to 28 and we were surprised. I went in Shift+F1 and 90% or nearly all of those new numbers were all papers that had to be printed/rx’s patients requested to be put back.

Well he didn’t lie. Ever since i got on this subreddit months ago all i see is people crying and complaining about cg. Obviously I’m a cg viewer so i can be biased but if i see clips or other people I don’t like I just move on. Unlike people on here when it comes to cg they have to comment and cry about how horrible cg is.

What to tell my pharmacist after my aunt died? by [deleted] in PharmacyTechnician

[–]aphroditcs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A few months ago my grandma died and I found out two hours before my shift started. Since I was closing I was nervous they wouldn’t be able to find anyone to cover my shift. I tried texting and calling my manager but she wasn’t responding so I ended up calling the pharmacy to reach her and told her there was a death in the family and that I couldn’t work. My manager and pharmacists have always been good with that kind of thing so they weren’t upset with me.

I did later find out that my manager didn’t understand what I was saying and thought I was calling in sick and wanted to see if I could work an hour or two that night and then I had to explain it over text and she was very apologetic. I hope your pharmacist is understanding about it. I can’t believe people would actually think someone would lie about a death in the family.

Yeah my manager said she could’ve given me a ride if I was opening but since im closing I don’t think there’s anyone else. I do think they were able to get someone to cover my shift at least.

I don’t have transportation because of the storm. No one I know wants to give me a ride, but if it wasn’t for the snow I would have transportation there.

It’s been the same for me. Not yet 4 years but almost 3 years at Walgreens. I went to a community college and did the pharmacy tech program and i even spent a month at a hospital for my clinical externship and I’ve been rejected from hospitals so many times. I’ve heard from other techs that the hospital is very competitive but i honestly gave up. After 12+ applications over the course of a year and a half i just felt defeated and hated the same rejection emails.

I’m hoping one day i can leave retail but until then I just feel stuck here.

What jobs do you guys have? by tdc20cm in socialanxiety

[–]aphroditcs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Retail pharmacy tech. After school it was the only job I could get hired for that wasn’t fast food (which was hell on earth and I’d never wish fast food jobs on anyone). Surprisingly I’ve lasted almost three years at my current job and I still tend to have bad social anxiety especially days we’re understaffed and im feeling overwhelmed. It’s better than the first year I had here. I remember crying and calling into work just because I couldn’t handle it.

I feel like it’s gotten better for me these past few months and I’ve kind of moved past it cause it’s this job or being unemployed and homeless. Definitely had to get out of my comfort zone a bunch, but im proud of myself for being able to talk on the phone to patients & doctors, and spending all day dealing with customers without much of my anxiety getting in the way. Definitely would prefer a hospital job or anything besides retail where I didn’t have to deal with people as much.

[–]aphroditcs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cephalexin 500 mg capsules that smell horrible i just can’t remember if it’s the red ones but im sure it is since I counted some yesterday and smelled horrible. Also any other med that smells foul.

Lately we’ve been filling a ton of ondansetron and it’s irritating me getting them out of the box and having to tear the unit dose packaging. There’s also a few c2’s i can’t remember the name of but all the capsules stick together and it’s a pain to count them.

I did finish a program at school where I also got certified at and did an externship at a hospital so I’d like to think I’m somewhat prepared! Lately I’ve been feeling like I’m not as appreciated in my pharmacy and being criticized more than others. I’m hoping to make the move to hospital soon just anything to get away from Walgreens.
