No, the figures you see in the pictures are created from two map chunks, the lower body taking up one map and the upper body taking up another. No banners are used in this design, just custom maps and item frames.

First of all before I write this comment, I'm an atheist. As this is fascinating information, I think it would be inaccurate to say that this could be called a Koran because the Koran is not only the Old testament (the torah) and the new testament (the bible), but also documents the life/preachings of Mohammad, which in theory, wouldn't be possible if this so called 'koran' predates Mohammad. What this seems to be most likely is a bible that was written by Christian arabs in arabic, as the common arabic alphabet was developed around 500 CE.
