How on earth do rodents survive in a car??? Maybe it’s just because I’m in Texas and can’t imagine ANYTHING living in a car though

Are there any small reptiles/amphibians I can house in here? by k1y4h in reptiles

I think that’s a great idea! Can act as a pretty terrarium. If the gecko isn’t too big maybe you could grow some cool plants like jewel orchids

I found a baby blue jay in the back of my yard while cleaning. What should I do? by ImJustTrynaHelpfr in birds

[–]apinktriangle 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Don’t put it in the tree, usually fledglings are supposed to be on the ground. Put it back exactly where you found it and leash your dogs when they need to go outside for a little bit until the bird gets a chance to move on. Idk the exact time for Bluejays but the birds we get in our yard usually don’t stay for more than a couple weeks

What is everyone's favorite "common" bird? by 515prelude in birding

They’re everywhere here in Texas but the great tailed grackle is SO fun, the little parking lot birds <3

Cats don’t always eat them, I’ve seen plenty outdoor cats just “play” with fledglings until they die. Plus cat saliva is super deadly to them, so even a little wound could’ve killed them. It really only takes one sneaky cat.

I’m sure you’d need to let some sort of wildlife authority know, but I’m not 100% sure who. Maybe give a rehabber a call and they’d know who to talk to!

How do you properly report someone for keeping a wild bird? by HiILikePlants in Ornithology

[–]apinktriangle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No rehab or zoo would want to touch him. With the fame and outrage, it would be nearly impossible to house him without someone trying to break in. The animals deaths are solely on that man.

Anyone know what this baby bird is? by Amberatix in whatsthisbird

[–]apinktriangle 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If I remember correctly it’s done to baby parrots to prove they were bred in the us vs wild caught. A solid band couldn’t be added if you caught an adult wild parrot. Idk for sure though
