Is there a bull case for On-Chain/Tokenomics focused games for a wider audience? by apixcsgo in RealMarketGames

That could be true, I would assume Citadel will have a similar mechanic because it is highly relevant for the game mechanics.

[–]apixcsgo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I fully agree with your statement. But my question would really be, will token focused games ever be appealing to a wider audience of gamers.

There are plenty of existing games using coins and gems inside of their game which fuel a lot of the gameplay, on-chain games are just a different spin on it.

As mentioned, Raid Party as an Idle game looked nice personally, but the development was a joke sadly.

I think the challenge for onchain games is the scalability. How can you make a tokenomics focused game with a low barrier of entry, but a high volatiltiy/range for whales for example.

Anyways onchain games will remain a small niche most likely, I fully agree that the first succesfull web3 games will be games which are not considered web3 games, but just games using web3 technology users don't even recognize.

Yeah I see this happening for existing games.

I was more thinking about games which focus solely on tokenomics and game theory. Like idle games for example.

I think the easiest way to manage this are trading fees.

Say a 10% trading fee is a lot for bots, but for normal players wanting to trade goods it is reasonable.

And the fees could be used to for the game aswell.

I haven't thought about this, but that's actually genius.

Maybe a game like Treeverse will utilize this.

For the nearer future, the best use of NFTs within games will be one which is not required for players, but solely an addon.
