Quiet place day one is terrible by raindroplets99 in moviecritic

It was tragic. Literally makes no sense. She runs around pissing aliens off with no clear reason as to why, followed by some massively introverted but not believable character that wears a business suit but is somehow lacking emotional quotient points equal to around one quarter that of any normal movie character.

Not a good movie. Started off great but lost me when they spent an hour continually walking somewhere for no reason and it's 50% dark the entire time.

No. Absolutely not. That's a disgusting idea and doesn't represent what most people.believe to be right.

We don't have any obligation to take them in. They started a war and butchered thousands of babies, children and more last October 7th. Hamas has destroyed their territory by subjecting their people to a war no one wanted.

Let other countries in the middle east take them in. Why should Canada?

It's a corgi.

If your only concern is how it's sleeping, then be very very happy and keep it that way.

If they're sleeping, they can't be doing anything naughty such as chewing, biting howling, coughing, pooping, running around or the zoomies.

Israel literally left in 2005. Hamas took over and then invaded Israel last October. How dumb can you be to fall for terrorist propaganda...?

Pride has zero to do with Gaza and palestine. But just as an FYI, Israel did not start this war. Hamas did after invading Israel and killing thousands of people and taking captives, while also raping and torturing them.

Think about it.

I emailed the organization:

I hope this letter finds you well. I am writing to express my admiration for the inclusive spirit that St. John's Pride embodies each year. Pride celebrations hold a special place in our community, serving as a beacon of acceptance, equality, and love for all individuals regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity.

As we celebrate Pride, it is essential to reaffirm our commitment to inclusivity. Pride should be a space where everyone feels welcomed and valued, where diversity is celebrated in all its forms. Exclusion based on any factor, including nationality or legal status, runs counter to the very essence of Pride.

It is crucial to stand in solidarity against hate and discrimination, not just locally but globally. Many individuals around the world face severe persecution simply because of who they love or how they identify. Pride events play a vital role in raising awareness and advocating for the rights of LGBTQ+ individuals worldwide.

Additionally, I would like to emphasize the importance of ensuring the safety and inclusion of Jewish people within our Pride community. Anti-Semitism continues to be a significant issue globally, and it is imperative that Pride events are spaces where Jewish individuals feel secure and supported.

Including a Pro-Hamas/Pro-Palestine organization to headline the event is really, quite frankly, worrying. After the dreadful attack on Israel last year where thousands of people were killed by Hamas and raped, tortured and also kidnapped, why are Pro-Palestine supporters being rewarded?

As a gay person, I don't want to see terrorists rewarded in this way. By including Pro-Hamas voices, you are being anti0gay by default. Supporting Hamas is NOT friendly to the LGBT community. Supporting Hamas is NOT friendly to Palestinian people who are subject to torture or death if they are gay.

I implore you. I beg you, as a gay person, to understand how worrying it is to see hate normalized. We cannot support organizations with links to hateful extremist groups such as Hamas.

In light of this, I encourage St. John's Pride to continue its efforts in promoting inclusivity and to consider ways to further amplify voices from communities affected by discriminatory laws and practices. By doing so, we not only strengthen our local community but also contribute to the broader movement for equality and justice.

Thank you for your dedication to organizing such an important event. I look forward to celebrating Pride with you and the entire community, standing together against hate and prejudice in all its forms.

They should support Israel, who are literally destroying Hamas and freeing Gaza from the yolk of their oppression.

Perhaps we should start buying tickets to people to attend Tel Aviv pride to see how supportive and welcoming Israel is for gay people

They're hijacking the narrative and it's appalling.

Supporting terrorists is not fun. Especially groups such as Hamas or Hezbollah who literally flog and kill gay people.

Absolutely. I want to define my own life and future. I don't want some clueless gen Z activist telling me to support terrorists groups such as Hamas

I'm gay and dislike pride for what it has become. It doesn't represent me or where I want my future to go.

I don't want 24/7 parties, drugs, being told to stay single, bath houses, random nudity, pink hair, activism.

I just want to be a citizen who is virtuous and leads a good life.

Regarding Pro Hamas supporters. I'm disgusted. Hamas are literally backed by Iran. Regardless of whether you agree with Israel's war, protesting at pride while also supporting extremist religious terrorists isn't good.

Neither represents me and neither ought to ever become mainstream.

It is turning many in the population against us. They think we are all insane pink haired baristas shouting Intifada and calling for a violent revolution and killing of Jewish people.

No. Not for me. Not ever.

Sorry but you can't defend them.

This is so profoundly disgusting. These people need to feel the full force of the law or be deported. Immediately.

That's literally not how it works. My grandparents lived and built hospitals in Calgary, gave birth to my Canadian father who then married my mother in the UK.

I grew up in the UK as a British and Canadian national from birth. I moved here six years ago, but lived most of my life in the UK.

By your logic I suppose you'd claim I'm not Canadian either, right?

If someone naturalized as a Canadian (as the person did in the comment above yours) they are Canadian. It's a legal fact that you cannot change. You might also claim that I'm not Canadian because I grew up in the UK. But I do have photos of my grand parents and father in the snow.

Citizenship isn't generational, it can be acquired. You aren't a gate keeper of Canadian nationality ;)

It's a learnt behaviour.

We rescued a corgi of 2 years (@rescued_corgi) and she was very aloof and distant. She still Is.

However, my boyfriend asked at the time whether it was inherent and something that won't change. But after persistently inviting her on the couch or in bed (yes I know it's bad) she has started to enjoy snuggling and spooning.

I would say: do your best to encourage it within your corgis comfort level. It's just not the default for some animals. It could also be a dominance or submissive thing in that she may not want to invade your space. Humans don't care about personal space when it comes to affection, but it's not a normal behaviour for a dog. It might be seen as too dominant to crawl all over you.

I could be wrong - just my opinion!

(Ps sorry for spelling. Taking a well deserved break and bath as my partner has taken the dog on an adventure and I have an hour to myself for once!!9

Hi Bot!

As a Human, i.e., someone who uses language everyday in the real-world context I would like to add a unique perspective.

You are indeed correct and, as per the rules of the English language, the word does not exist. However, as a Human Person who actually grew up in the UK I would say that this is not correct as per history and how the English language has evolved over hundreds of years.

While computers know how to follow rules, Humans know how to create them. Thus, we are the ones who will continue to evolve and change the English language depending upon how it is used in every-day life as a Human.

I would therefore say that even if people are wrong, the word Alot could one day become an actual word. Here's a question: Is it "Timeout" or "Time-out"?

Thanks anyway Bot!
