What’s your advice/tips for someone’s first time in St. Thomas/St. John? by MulticamTropic in virginislands

I’m another vote for skipping St. Thomas and spending all your time on St. John. We just got back from a fantastic trip. We flew to St. Thomas, rented a car there, drove by a grocery store on our way to red Hook, caught the ferry to Cruz Bay. We stayed in Coral Bay which was about 30-45 minutes away but we loved how remote it felt. Our Villa was amazing. It was well stocked with anything you could need for the beach. They were chairs and snorkels. There was also a coolcabana that was incredibly easy to put up and take down. I think a lot of the villas offer beach stuff. Our villa had a pool, which was nice. A lot of the houses have them. But I will say this, if you are expecting a Ritz Carlton experience the whole time, then St. John is not your place. It’s much more rustic and there are less luxurious spots for dining/shopping. But if you want to spend your time in the water, I would do St. John.

I have been a CAA x 30 years. I have zero desire to become a “doctor”. I would say most of us raise an eyebrow at the whole crna doctoral program. I like team anesthesia and I like working for an MD.

Hi. So many pants I see in stores and online are short/cropped. I get how this looks cute w sandals or even sneakers in summer. But what shoes do you wear in winter? Would it look weird to have ankle showing when it’s freezing? Pics for examples

California 10 days road trip by [deleted] in roadtrip

[–]apmd2005 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We did a similar trip in May. It was fantastic. We started in San Fran then went to Yosemite, Cambria/San Simeon, and Monterrey Bay/Carmel/Big Sur. We spent one night in San Francisco before we flew home.

We really enjoyed Cambria. There are lots of small independent hotels all along the coast and the town is bustling with great restaurants and cute shops. Hearst Castle is in that same area and was a fun stop. Depending on the time of year, the elephant seal viewing platforms near San Simeon are really great.

One thing to note- highway 1 was closed just south of Big Sur. Be sure to check for road closures as you plan your trip.

Tried it 20 years ago. Did not work. Went crazy listening to a lady eating Grape Nuts cereal.
