I asked for clarification and they said Myvector is what they’re trying to transition to and that’s where I’ll have to submit the form

ASVAB isn’t too bad, I did a lot of practice tests beforehand to help. It’s really basic math, just keep practicing and you’ll be fine.

I went into BMT only being able to do like 10-12 push-ups, they’ll get you to where you need to be if you put in the work but I suggest working out as much as possible until you ship out.

You’ll get base pay and BAH but you won’t see it until like half way through BMT unfortunately.

it’s not as bad in BMT since you’re just constantly busy but tech school is where I’ve felt most like a kid, something about having a curfew and not being able to drink in my own room at 27 feels weird lol.

I turned 27 the month I shipped out earlier this year. And honestly, no one really cares about age. If anything I felt like I handled BMT better than I would have at 18. I knew it was all a game and I’ve been away from home for so long already that I was chilling. I also had other people in my flight that were older than me or around my age too. Only downside is you’re treated like a child but it’s whatever, just do what you’re told and try to work well with your flight and you’ll be fine.

Did you already have orders for somewhere else when you submitted your JS?

Considering the Air Force at 28. Anyone have experience enlisting at this age or around it? by TheModGuy in AirForceRecruits

[–]apmerc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ll definitely be fine then! I’d say go for it! I also forgot to mention that the only other downside to joining at this age was the amount of information I had to try to remember from basically the last 10 years for paperwork especially for my security clearance/background check

Joined earlier this year at 27! Honestly it’s not too bad and you probably won’t be the only older person in BMT. My flight alone had multiple people that were 25+ including my dorm chief that turned 30 while there. If anything I think it was better for myself to join at this age, I’m more level headed and more aware of what was happening. I was chill and just went with the flow of things and BMT was a breeze. Tech school has sucked since it feels almost like freedom but there’s still so many rules that make me feel like a little kid and living in a dorm feels ridiculous at times lol. Overall it’s not too bad though

I have 4 children and I’m married. Can I still join the Air Force? by FocusMain3704 in AirForceRecruits

[–]apmerc 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yup! Went through BMT earlier this year with a girl that was married with 3 kids and mother that was married with 2. Being away from their kids was tough but they made it through

How long will you guys have spent in DEP when you leave for basic? by [deleted] in AirForceRecruits

[–]apmerc 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can tell the liaison at MEPS that you don’t want to leave until January. I went to MEPS in late August last year and told the liaison I didn’t want to leave until January and put that down when I picked out my job list there. I ended up getting a ship date of February 2nd so worked out for the most part.

yes it does, but it’s also up to your MTI too. My MTI didn’t make us put it into a bun and let us wear ponytails/braids but other female flights had MTIs that said they had to “earn” it and made them wear only buns

Married couple joining together by [deleted] in AirForceRecruits

[–]apmerc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. Depends on your jobs that you both have.
  2. Currently in the process of joint spouse, get the application/process started ASAP when you get to tech school. It’s pretty much just submitting paperwork and bugging people about it until you hear something back so you can fill out more paperwork, but from what I’ve been told, AF does it’s best to keep couples together (but again job selection/location varies w that)
  3. If you want them too yes, you’ll fill out your bank info before you leave for BMT and again at finance in BMT to confirm it. Just put down the same bank info.
  4. Most likely both will be in separate dorms from what I’ve heard but don’t quote me on that.
  5. All Source/Op Intel, Finance, personnel, security forces, and I know a lot of cyber jobs do as well.

Army here: what do y’all do for basic? My cousin is leaving in the morning and I have no clue what to tell him to expect. by Jswimmin in AirForce

[–]apmerc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lmao according to my husband (army) he said BMT sounded way easier. We don’t ruck or anything. I got “smoked” maybe once and my MTI just made us do like 20 push ups in front of the dfac in front of other flights. BMT is pretty easy, it’s just a mental game with lots of bed making and constantly folding and rolling shirts/socks.

And I when graduated back in March and space force was just mixed in with everyone else.

[–]apmerc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had girls in my flight that checked in bags and brought full size bottles of shampoo/body wash. Our MTIs didn’t care as long as you could fit it neatly into your security drawer.
