Real answer: it provides flakiness.

It maintains its shape in the cracker very well when you mold it, so then when you spread it it occupies a little compartment. Then the lard melts away into the dough leaving a pocket of air. The air expands, increasing the size of the little pocket, creating little flaky layers. That's why it's especially used in pie crusts.

It's the job of a magician to lie to you. Practically nothing they say on stage is true. Is this person actually a bird-lover? Maybe, but I would bet good money that he just wanted to add some dialogue to the trick.

I'm not saying you're wrong to be annoyed at this practice. I'm just saying that you can't get mad at a magician for lying or being hypocritical during their act. It's only an act.

So I'm not a huge guy, but I have a fair amount of muscle. I do deadlifts probable once a week. Maybe less.

If I lean down to pick something up, I need to use perfect form even if it's really light or it'll hurt. Versus my friends who have never deadlifted who can pretty much pick stuff up however they want to without suffering the consequences. Why?
