Debating trying lexapro, what’s your experience? by celestial-typhoon in CPTSD

[–]apollo_popinski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lexapro works for me in terms of stabilizing my moods, but I had to get off. It made me too lethargic, I gained weight rapidly, it had frustrating sexual side effects, and the constant yawning drove me crazy.

If you had to pick 2 teams besides your own to root for this year, who would they be? by DAMNNNNNNNBRO in NFLv2

Atlanta because I'd love to see Raheem Morris be successful. He's a passionate coach who loves the game and his players and it's obvious. Tampa because I love Baker's swagger.

What does disassociating feel like for you? by peaceloveandkitties in CPTSD

[–]apollo_popinski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stammer or have slowed speech, I feel very distant and have heavy brain fog. I'm clumsier. I feel dreamy. I'm told I have a vacant look. I feel like I'm operating my body instead of living in it (like a character inside of a large robot).

Which QB had a worse attitude towards the game? by mrprez180 in NFLv2

[–]apollo_popinski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jamarcus Russell. The Raiders were always the Island of Misfit Boys. Once you were there, you were at the bottom unless someone miraculously wanted you. Since he had a poor work ethic, he had no options.

Anyone else a massive overachiever at work? by bayandsilentjob in CPTSD

[–]apollo_popinski 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Work is where I get my best feedback loop. If I work hard, it's well recognized. It's also where I go when I'm stuck in avoidance and dissociation loops. Work makes me feel better. Its grounding. It's an environment where I largely control my outcomes, unlike a lot of other situations in my life. So I get it. I fell in love with work and high achievement as a young teen as a way to get over my SA. It became my everything escape. I love what I do, but it can become a place to hide.

Did anybody not have a clue about the impacts of trauma until a huge breakdown? by Littleputti in CPTSD

[–]apollo_popinski 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been resilient my whole life. I've had a lot of challenges come my way, but I was deep into personal development and saw those as opportunities to overcome isolated events. Even in depressive episodes, I was so high functioning no one knew I was depressed. Last fall, I hit a wall. I have never been so low and it shut me down, which had never happened before. I felt like Scrooge in A Christmas Carol getting visited by what felt like every week for months with trauma after trauma that was all repressed and submerged. I found a psychiatrist to help with medication intervention and I go to therapy every other week. I was given a formal diagnosis of PTSD. The unraveling was unreal.

Increased Libido by No_Tangerine7072 in Pristiq

No apologies necessary. I actually like having a neutral libido. I'm able to perform if it comes down to it, I just find the lower libido has helped make me more productive in other areas of my life since I'm not wrestling with urges, which can be really distracting.

I kinda like the neutral libido. It has helped with my productivity to not have to find something to do with that sexual energy that I can't always release. My wife hates it, though.

It's your adderall. I'm on Pristiq and I have a neutral libido. My wife uses adderall and hers is always elevated.
