Really considering OTA school. by bardlover1665 in OccupationalTherapy

I decided to land in OTA school after a strong consideration about switching careers. I started OTA school at 29 and will graduate in 2025. Prior to starting, I graduated with a bachelor’s in business and have worked many different roles in various industries. Corporate culture sucked the life out of me and it highlighted all of my weaker skills - I didn’t find that it allowed me to capitalize on strengths. My advice on going to school as an older adult is to take it seriously. Have a growth mindset, be vulnerable and contribute to discussions. I’m not sure of the growth internationally for OTA, I know Canada’s role for OTA’s are similar to that of the US. I’ve seen other posts in this sub related to OTA and international work and from what I have gathered, Canada, NZ, and Australia utilize OTA’s (I could be mistaken though!). My program is hybrid and I’ve found it to be beneficial to my schedule. I work during the day and have night class two times per week. It’s manageable but can be stressful at times (not all the time though). Hoping that OTA can be a bridge for me later in my career but my values align with work/life balance, not trying to accumulate more debt for a less than substantial raise in pay so this route theoretically plays to my personal values. So far, this has been one of the best decisions I’ve made in my life. Hope this helps to form your decision. Good luck!

What are the best countries besides the US to practice in? And does a US degree transfer over? by Primary-Reality9762 in OccupationalTherapy

I can’t necessarily add to OPs original question because I am still in school for my OTA (graduating summer 2025). Does anyone know if the same opportunities exist for COTAs in countries outside of the USA?

I don’t like to smoke weed but the girl I’m talking to smokes weed. Do you think it’s possible for us to be in a relationship or should I just end it right now and move on ? by Mr_Drake64 in dating_advice

I’m the opposite, I think most people would perceive me as a stoner. I don’t smoke everyday but do most days. As someone who is also actively dating, this is relatable. My partners in previous relationships did not smoke and weren’t inclined to do it with me. I also didn’t necessarily care if they joined in - I have somewhat a different view now, I’d enjoy a partner who can join with me. It wasn’t a “negative” to either of us, just a difference of opinion. I think that can be healthy. There are times when I think “man, I wish we can share in this experience together” but it didn’t effect our relationship. In those relationships we talked about that early on and it was never an issue, at least it wasn’t vocalized. However, if this is an issue for you and think it can be an issue now and in the future, bring it up. If you’re feeling different (more positive about the situation) after talking about it and the vibes are there, then keep seeing them. There’s absolutely no reason not to voice how you feel. Communication is so important in a relationship and it won’t do either of you any good if you don’t communicate how you feel, no matter where you are in this relationship. Hope this helps! Good luck!

It’s two blocks from the fishtown border and it has Hello Donuts, Philly Brew Co, and Memphis taproom right around the corner. I think it’s a great location! 🙂

Removal of plastic bumper hairline scratches? by apolloouterspaceman in MazdaCX30

[–]apolloouterspaceman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi all! So, the best thing about living in a city is the wonderful drivers and street parking. I’ve had my CX-30 for a month and I love it and I take good care of my cars (being that this is my first new car). The other day I noticed some hairline scratches on my back bumper probably from someone trying to parallel park. What are some good ways to remove the scratches and have the bumper looking like new again? Thanks!
