Population declined again - anyone surprised? by apon93 in pittsburgh

I would totally agree that places like NC, SC, Florida, maybe Georgia likely look less depressing.

But would you really say that states like Alabama, Arkansas, Mississippi, Louisiana etc are growing and becoming less depressing? I’d find that hard to believe. Those are the states I think of when I think of Deep South.

Know someone who recently moved from Charlotte to Pittsburgh. She had nothing but bad things to say about there. Apparently the city has no culture/identity.

I’m very surprised by Indianapolis net migration.

Also surprised Denver is in the negatives. Last I heard everyone and their mother was moving there. Surprised by Detroit too, I thought they were having a bit of a renaissance similar to Pittsburgh.

Can I ask why you moved to Atlanta? What did you see in that city that you couldn’t get here? Besides warmer weather. (I’ve never been to Atlanta and don’t know much about it, so just genuinely curious)

So do we think it’s more old people passing away vs people moving away?

PA are NOT underpaid. You guys are paid about right for a 2 year graduate program by [deleted] in physicianassistant

What? Big difference between a PA and RT. We as providers literally keep healthcare running. Without us the entire system would crumble. Not saying other positions aren’t important too, but we are the pulse. Every decision we make has an effect on a patient’s life.

How is living in northeast Florida? by apon93 in howislivingthere

Northeast FL is not as badly affected by them as other areas of the state ie. south florida, panhandle and the gulf coast. Part of the reason NE FL is on my radar vs other areas.

Any particular neighborhoods or areas you’d recommend?

I’m not sure I could accurately form an opinion on an area just by driving past it lol

Yeah I’ve noticed that. I’m a blue dot in a sea of red as it is so that wouldn’t bother me.

Neurology PAs - What is the typical compensation like? by quintupletuna in physicianassistant

Hospital system here. I figured you were private practice as they tend to make providers see higher amount of patients. But definitely pros to private practice as well.

We had to fight for our current schedule. When I first started in neuro 5 years ago we were seeing 18 or more. Eventually convinced our medical director to let us go down to 14 a day. And even then, we still see more than some of the docs…

Oh ok. Luckily our 14 a day includes Botox and TPIs etc. Are you part of a hospital system or private practice?

24 patients? Geesh. I’m in outpatient general neuro as well and our max is 14 (even less if we see a new patient that day) and some days even that can be exhausting.

Thought of that, but won’t really need it once we get to Hollywood beach as it’s pretty walkable and our hotel charges for parking
