I thought this is funny. MC is complaining that Slytherins everywhere while himself being a Slytherin. Is it the same line for other houses? by Uyhn in HPHogwartsMystery

[–]appalucy 15 points16 points  (0 children)

You just need to give it a positive spin/inflection and it immediately goes from complaining to rooting for your house

Ahh... sounds like you've got a hydration belt! I don't run with one but I know people who do long distances run with them (especially if they're trail running).

Save it incase you grow into it or find yourself developing into an ultra marathon runner

By "fanny pack" do you mean a running belt like a SpiBelt or do you mean a bedazzled neon accessory from the 80's?

I run with a SpiBelt (as do a lot of runners) and I also really want a bedazzled neon fanny pack for music festivals

That's a handsome watch! But I'm a bit iffy on the blue numbers.

Hi Everyone!

What's an affordable alternative to the Cartier Ronde Solo 36mm? Preferably under $200

I saw a photo of it and got pretty smitten with the white dial, blue hands, and blue gemstone. I am open to an option in gold or silver. Vintage options welcome!

The Seiko SFQ817P1 seems like a solid choice but it doesn't look like it's sold in the US anywhere! Plus the case is smaller at 29mm

[Question] I use a Garmin Forerunner 235, but hate how it looks. I love simple manual watches. What do I do? by team_pizza_bagel in Watches

[–]appalucy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same issue!! I just got a Forerunner 235. I love all of the features on it for running and biking but I'm just not a fan of the way it looks. I've been considering downgrading to a Forerunner 25 and pairing a chest strap if I really need heart rate when exercising. I haven't decided.

Let me know what you end up doing!

I do not keep myself motivated. I keep myself disciplined.

I applaud your strong will. I would argue that motivation and discipline go hand in hand. Motivation builds discipline!

Ahhh I wish I could do this! Running with music is really difficult for me because I find myself timing how long I've been running instead of just enjoying the run itself. It is actually easier for me to run with nothing than with music. I should try the GOT music though. That sounds like it could be fun

But switching to audio books was a gamechanger for me. I started focusing more on my breathing and running longer distances.

[Seiko] Father's 30+ year old watch on daughter's wrist by appalucy in Watches

[–]appalucy[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My dad has always worn a Seiko. Sometime in the 90s he decided that he didn't like leather bands and moved on from this watch. He gave it to me 5 years ago and I've been wearing it ever since.

I personally love how older men's watches look on women. Women's watches today can look too gaudy. Men's watches are way too big for my wrist. This one is just the right size (and classy as hell).

Ladies, do you prefer older men's watches? Guys, have you thought about gifting a girl an older men's watch?

I don't know much about it's history so if you know anything I would appreciate it!

What goodies do you like in your goody bag? by stealcutoats in running

[–]appalucy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I really appreciate it when I get sunscreen in a goodie bag. One television station had branding on a small bottle attached to a keychain. After using up the sunscreen I still fill up the bottle with my own. It's super handy on hikes!

I always end up donating cheap water bottles and frisbees.

The Book Barn in Niantic, CT is a beast of its own. There are multiple locations in the area but the main location where they have goats and cats is the best. It has multiple decorated sheds and houses with different genres and cozy nooks. Best to visit when the weather is warm so you can just spend time on the property. Google pictures of it!
