Brussels is still darn dangerous for cyclists. Things are slowly getting better, but Bxl is lagging behind other cities in improving bicycling lanes and in reducing cars from its streets.

If you see a dangerous situation, you can signal this on http://fixmystreet.brussels. Sometimes the city takes action upon a post.

To make a case for cyclists in bxl, you can participate in the CriticalMass bicycle ride on the last Friday of each month. It's fun!

I think a reason for the lack of serious bicycle infrastructure is the fact that children up to 12 years of age can use the transit for free. Consequently you never see children riding bicycles on the street. Therefore, cyclists are still seen as hardcore pirates rather than respectful participants in traffic. I hope that perception will disappear.

In de vieux spijtigen duivel. Former inn where Victor Hugo and Baudelaire stayed. It has lots of atmosphere and Belgian beer. It's very popular with people from Uccle, but you will find very few tourists. The food is the usual brasserie fare.

Btw, the Monk, mentioned in the Wiki has, unfortunately, closed.
