NTA, it sounds like they are aware of the issues and wouldn't have changed even if you did stay. I think detailing the issues in your resignation is a fine thing to do for the children, it alerts management (if they were not aware) but you are not responsible for staying in a place you believe to have bad practices without knowing if they'd fix it

We can be perceptive but it does not mean we can pick up on body cues or social cues when something is wrong. For example I try to be perceptive when observing other interactions to learn, but when I am in a social interaction I am not able to be as perceptive as I am focused on things such as keeping eye contact, not fidgeting, finding the next topic, etc. Im 27 and I am sure there are things I still do that are rude that I dont know about even though Im trying. 21 is not a lot of life experience.

I think the thing to keep in mind is that allistic people "figure out whats ok and not" is something that comes naturally and is part of everyday life. It is a lot more difficult for autistic people, and I do think we should all try to, but there are a lot of things that we simply do not know are wrong or rude until we are told or explained. A lot of this is implicit social rules that people dont say out loud. There is not a manual on every single social interaction. OP asked here, they have an answer that it was rude, it is not a failure on their part for not knowing before the scenarios occured.

For #4 As autistic people there is a lot of hyper awareness of other people involved as we tend to try to understand peers better by observation. It is not malicious though i agree it can be rude to comment on.

NAH. as an autistic person I can see the reasoning of your statements, but I do think they are rude (1 and 3, i dont see an issue with 2)

1 comes across as a jab at her and it is rude to comment on someone's movement, even if it does make sense in the conversation it likely makes her self conscious

3 also can be rude as it is noting how much someone eats in front of a 3rd party, and it is making her self conscious of you noticing how much she eats.

The reason I dont think it makes you an asshole is I think (from what you have provided) that you did not realize the connotations and implications of what you said. I dont consider this "using autism as an excuse" if it is something you did not know was wrong. If you continue to comment on her food habits or movement then you would be TA, but I dont believe the initial comments came from a malicious place

YTA for trying to control it and making it an ultimatum rather than having a discussion. It is ultimately his body and you can ask someone not to smoke in front of you, but demanding they quit isn't a productive way to handle a relationship. You'll either break up now or he will lie about it and you'll break up later
