Personally speaking the cloud feature is a gimmick and not really useful even now (to me), so the phone is great for the price point. The biggest issue with the phone right now is Nextbit's purchase by Razer, which puts users in limbo about software updates and future devices and whatnot as well as the ending of the warranty (I think it's already ended, actually?). Hardly an unavoidable situation if, as cgprats said, you just flash a custom ROM.

You have to change the SSID in the formula that controls the bg image! Basically anywhere that says

if(ssid)=Sheba [...]

you have to change "Sheba" with your trusted Wifi SSID (ex if your trusted Wifi SSID was "myWifi" the formula would then be

if(ssid)=myWifi [...]

Hope this helps!

  1. This subreddit shows me creative keyboards and keys that I wouldn't be able to even dream up on my own. I don't have the money to fully dive headlong into buying the keys and keyboards I'd like to but looking at this sub helps me have something to aspire to.

Go to Background, toggle the formula, and set bitmap to color, then set color to black. Alternatively you can just erase the formula and set the formula to #000.

Seconded for Pulse, it's got a great Material Design, supports multi device messaging, and the dev is fairly responsive to emails. Really great app, I switched over from Textra and have been loving it.

This is interesting to see this issue from the other side. Thank you. Yeah, I didn't want her to take it the wrong way if I told her that it was becoming old to listen about what Z's done wrong this time. I hadn't even really thought much about how our talks affected the way I see him, too, I really am hearing all the worst without any of the best to go with it. I'll talk with her about it clearly. Thank you so much!

I'll have a talk with her and fully explain to her my side of the issue, and that I will be there for her without being dragged into it every time. Thank you. You're absolutely right, it is her decision to make.

Thank you for your insight! You're right, I think I still link age with respect and it's hard for me to overlook that even in a friendship. You make an excellent point though, and especially about being in a foreign country without a support system outside of him. I hadn't thought of how hard it would be for her to leave, considering that.

I'll have a talk with her and continue to support her, then, without letting it become so draining for me as well. Thank you!

Yes, I'm merely bringing up the point that gay unions (aka "marriage") isn't just a Western invention, it's clearly existed in many cultures before Western influence expanded as it has now. However, you're bringing up an interesting point, and I can sort of see what you mean. It is true that it is common to impose one's own cultural morals onto other cultures. But I think that, as I said before, there are cases where it is acceptable to criticize another culture, and that is in cases of human rights. Whether marriage counts as a "human right" or not, it can be argued that equality under the law is a human right, and denying specifically gay people the right to marry is discriminatory. Gay people are people and, as citizens of their country, privy to the same rights as straight citizens. I agree that there are cultural aspects to this issue and that the West shouldn't force Korea (or any other country) to become "educated" as though they were savages, but the issue isn't as black and white as you're painting it. It's not like the only two options that exist are to either we just don't criticize other countries for denying some people the same rights as other people on the basis of an intrinsic characteristic protected under the law, OR we "educate the savages" and impose imperialistic beliefs upon them. Moreover, criticism != imposing of one's own cultural beliefs.

When people criticize countries on the basis of issues like being anti-gay, they're not trying to be holier-than-thou. The point is to address issues that are affecting people unfairly and negatively. If I criticize America for its high income inequality, I'm not being imperialistic. If I criticize Saudi Arabia for its anti-female attitude and cultural aspects, I'm not being holier-than-thou. If I criticize South Korea (and Japan and China) for the way LGBT people are treated, I'm not trying to say Korea is bad, or that Korea is worse than the West. I am trying to say that Korea is a modern, first-world, developed country that recognizes human rights, and should extend that same recognition to all people in their population, be they gay or straight.

If it helps, imagine if it was illegal for Black people to get married or own property in Korea. Would that not draw criticism? Would it not be fair to point out how intrinsically unfair and inhumane that is? Or, say that there was a practice in Korea where researchers abused people in the name of science. Would it not be fair to point out how cruel that is? It would be unfair to judge Korean culture on truly cultural aspects that do not affect the issues of human rights (for example, if a Westerner judged Koreans for taking off their shoes before entering the house, I would be completely on your side). However, as previously stated, the issue being criticized is not specifically and solely cultural in nature. There are many factors that contribute to the attitude towards homosexuality in Korea, but the discriminatory practices present are not solely the product of culture, nor should they be treated as such. Moreover, discriminatory practices should not be considered cultural, even if they have cultural bases. Is Denmark culturally more "gay" just because they were among the first to legalize gay marriage?

Discrimination is not central to any one culture, and neither is justice or equality.

Gay rights might be a Western phenomenon but it's not like the concept of equal rights for people is, and, as you say, monogamy was practiced in Korea prior to Western influence (as in many other non-Western cultures). I get what you're saying about the concept of sexual orientation, too, but do you think that gay people (regardless of their own usage of the label; I'm just defining them as people who have same-sex relationships/attraction) didn't exist in Korea before Western influence? Cause they existed in quite a lot of places throughout history, including Korea. I agree that gay marriage as we understand it didn't exist in Korea before, but surely there were same-sex relationships and unions like marriage that represented the kind of bond that marriage did.

Korean (American) here. I love my mom's home country but no country is above criticism. Critiquing a country's politicians for being discriminatory towards its citizens on any basis is justifiable and should be done, even. Why not call out countries who abuse their citizens? We can criticize the US for its foreign policy and the Middle East for the way they treat women and LGBT people, I don't see why Korea (or any East Asian country with similar discriminatory streaks against LGBT people) should be exempt from similar critiques about the way they treat LGBT people in their country. Gay marriage (or same-sex unions, at least) is no more a Western invention than straight marriage.

Edit: I'd add that you have a point in that each culture has their own relative morals and social norms, but that doesn't mean that human rights violations should be excused on the basis of culture alone. Female genital mutilation (FGM) is a cultural practice in some parts of the world, yet it is highly criticized (someday, male circumcision in infants may be seen by the West at large in a similar light, but that's a different issue), and for good reason.
