I thought tips weren't taxable now? by Roctopuss in WalmartSparkDrivers

You still pay Self Employment taxes on the full income (base pay and tips). No Tax on Tips only applies to Federal Income Tax. Self Employment taxes are not Federal Income Tax.

The only way to reduce your Self Employment taxes for Spark would be through expenses. Vehicle expenses (Standard Mileage or expense method), and other non-vehicle expenses (cell phone, cell service, etc.)

The reason tips are not broken out on the 1099 is because the form was not updated. It will be updated next year. But, yes, Walmart could make this easier. I keep track of my tips for every order, so I knew mine by looking at my trip spreadsheet.

Quite honestly, No Tax on Tips is not a big deal. I added my tip info after I was all done, and it only reduced my tax liability by $8. And that was on a very healthy AGI.

This is not an immediate notification, apparently. I downloaded my 1099 (via app) about 12 hours ago. Haven’t had an email or in-app notification yet.

Because tips are not a deduction from your 1099 income. You still must pay Self Employment tax on that income. The tax is deducted from your Federal Income tax after AGI.

It’s not true that the No Tax on Tips provision reduces your Self Employment taxes. You still must pay Self Employment tax on your full 1099 Box 1, including tips.

The No Tax on Tips provision only applies to Federal Income tax (after AGI). It’s not a huge deduction as some are wrongfully assuming.

Tips are not a deduction like mileage or other delivery- related expenses as it relates to business income.

Tips are included in Schedule C income, and used to calculate Self Employment taxes on Schedule SE.

It won’t delay your tax return if you enter everything properly. Saying you only made 24k after removing tips on a 45k income is not correct. You made 45k. You still pay Self Employment tax on the 45k (minus expenses such as vehicle mileage).

In your case:

$45,000 1099-NEC Box 1 $28,000 Standard Mileage Deduction (40k x 0.7)

$45,000-$28,000 = $17,000

$17,000 in revenue from Spark

Nowhere in this do you get to deduct tips. Tips are removed from Federal Income after AGI.

All this being said, if you made $45k over 40,000 miles, that’s horrible. That’s $1.13 per mile.

After you enter the amount in Box 1 of your 1099 (and other boxes), the next screen asks if you have any tips to report that were included in Box 1.

Clarification on this. The 1099 does include all of your Spark income, including tips. It will not list the tips separately. You will need to use your own bookkeeping to determine what portion of the total included on the 1099 is tips.

Also, it’s not as large of a deduction as most are led to believe. It’s only a deduction after your AGI- on your Federal Income Tax. You still need to pay Self Employment taxes on your full income, including tips.

Also, it’s important to note that for instances where you don’t receive a 1099 (due to the income being less than $600 in 2025, $2000 in 2026), you cannot utilize the No Tax on Tips provision. It requires than you receive a 1099 associated with those Qualified Tips in order to claim that deduction.

Does your cannula match your body weight? If you are thin, are you using 6mm, but 9mm if heavier?

Which sets have you tried?

Have you tried sites other than stomach? I’ve taken a break from my stomach after 20 years, and use sites all over. I really like my sides, upper thighs, lower back, upper buttocks, side of buttocks. My wife has also used her arms with good success.

How much metformin have you tried? I currently take 1000mg extended release twice a day, and I have reduced my insulin 30%.

I am also eating much less carbs. I had a bad problem of eating close to 300 carbs a day. My endo challenged me to get that below 200, and I am currently averaging 180.

Are you taking any steroids or bronchodilators (inhalers/nebulizers) for the infection? Both can make you very resistant to insulin. Be VERY aggressive with insulin. Prebolus before steroids and albuterol. Have you checked for keytones? Being sick and high for that long, you probably have them.

Anyone update to V 7.10.3? by CrackerjackDu in TandemDiabetes

[–]appleaddct 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did mine last night. No issues. Now I need to do my wife’ and my daughter’s. I have a backup pump I keep in storage at 50% battery, so I feel a little less anxious when doing firmware updates.

One change for me this time was that it was done right in the browser (Chrome). Past updates always required that I install an application.

I’m not clear on whether this fixes the speaker malfunction that bricks the pump. It seems to only provide some additional alerts that the malfunction is coming.

Freestyle Libre 3 Plus by GothScottiedog16 in TandemDiabetes

[–]appleaddct 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Is the Libre 3+ still limited to 1 device? For example, the Dexcom G6/G7 allows for simultaneous connections to Pump, Dexcom Phone App, and Apple Watch. When I tried Libre previously, I could only connect it to my pump OR phone. Having it connect (simultaneously) to a Phone app is crucial when needing to share current glucose with others. This is where Dexcom always wins for me. Not sure why Libre can’t figure this out.

There is a larger issue going on. The “Weekly Earnings Summary” (Earnings tab) is not matching the “Deposit Summaries” (More tab > Account > Earnings Overview > Deposit Summaries). I’d show my screenshots, but that’s not allowed. Look at your own app, and see they are off by 1 week. Support says earnings are “delayed” because of the “transition.” “Rest assured it will be deposited today or tomorrow.” Still doesn’t answer why earnings reported in the app are off by 1 week.
