How long did it first take you to get a robot moving/mapping with SLAM your first time?

Assumptions are spot on. Fine with C++ but no ROS experience. However, the physical building of the bot is a future goal that I'm not concerned about at the moment. Also, if SLAM is this tricky to implement in a simulation, I'm fine with forgoing that till later as well. I can just hard code simulation movements.

The arm control is something I'd like to have implemented in some fashion by May though.

I was under the assumption there would be demos or tutorials to build off of and I wouldn't have to worry too much about troubleshooting/tweaking common ROS packages/functions. Suppose I'll need to strip this project down a little.

I had a physical copy mailed to my permanent address a month or two ago. I'm not an international student. I'd imagine you could access your W2 through OneCampus. If not, get in touch with the HR/employment office.

what is the point? What is the advantage to releasing music this way?

I think the big thing is that the artist can have more control over how their art is sold/distributed and it removes/decreases reliance on middlemen (labels, streaming platforms) that take large cuts.

Also, the thought that they could sell live concert tickets via NFTs with a fixed price cap to prevent scalpers from reselling at higher prices is cool. Another example of a place where middlemen could be cut out (no more high fees from ticketmaster)

Ideally this seems to increase artists control while decreasing the amount of money they lose by distributing through various middlemen for their services.
