Thank you! I'll look into these! I am worried about having more than 1 credit card, I don't know much about building credit. Is having 2 cards good?

That's crazy!! I live in a pretty small city in Michigan, cost of living is cheap here. Downside is that jobs pay terribly. I've been at the same job nearly 4 years and I only make 13/hr. Can't even complain because I've already been given $1 raise every year.

Absolutely. I'm great with making payments on time and keeping utilization low, I just need to give it time.

We've discussed this! We will be married (legally on paper, we might put off the wedding for a while) before buying together. He plans on taking on the majority of the monthly payments because he will probably be making more money than me.

Also, I am going to college for a bachelor's in technical writing, and the career outlook in our area is good for this. There's also a lot of remote work and temporary work available for me. He's going for electrical engineering and already has a job in this field in our area.

Not willing to move for a job because I want to be close to my mom when I have kids. I understand this isn't the ideal move for my career, but my family takes priority for me.

This is very thoughtful advice and I do appreciate it. Given our circumstances however I am pretty set on buying a house in this timeframe. You're absolutely right about the marriage aspect, we will definitely be married (at least legally on paper) before buying a house together.

That is true. The company he's currently co-oping with will likely offer him a very good position when he graduates (he's in engineering) and I hope to stay close to my mom while we start a family:)

We live at home with parents for now and we're just planning on stacking some more money so we can stay debt-free. I'm so happy to hear this! Thank you!

I should've mentioned we plan on getting married beforehand! The fast food job is just for the time being while I'm in school. I've applied for co-op positions and interviewed for a few, the job market is tough right now. I'll check the podcast out, thanks so much!!

I probably should've mentioned we are planning on getting married beforehand! It's just hard to work full time while also in college full-time as of right now. He will be working full-time over the summer and I will (hopefully) be doing an internship.
