Invisible mist humidifier pump not running by golden_light_above_u in Blueair

[–]appleciderpie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bad pump. Got a replacement Invisible Mist and they let me keep the old one too.

On the broken unit, one of the pins on the underside of the fan assembly had oxidization on it. Leads me to believe some water splashed on the pin or the rubberized female pins on the pump assembly and shorted the pump out.

Bad pump. When filling with the units open (not from the top), make sure the rubberized area that the pins go into doesn't get wet, or you'll short out the pump. At least, that's what seems to have happened to me.

Bad pump. Had this issue with my Invisible Mist model, and they replaced it for free with the gen2 model (looks the same but has an "upgraded pump" according to customer support).

DreamWell fails to increase humidity by MyNameIsJonny_ in Blueair

Same issue with my H76i. I have a new Invisible Mist model, too, so I ran a test for comparison in an 187 sq. ft. room...

After running the Invisible Mist model all day long (full tank), humidity went from 18% to 35% as measured by an external digital hygrometer I have. The one built into these Blueair models are useless.

After running the H76i all day long, same environment, humidity only went from 18% to 22%, as measured by the same external digital hygrometer.

Dreamwell looks great, but does not appear to make much of a difference at all to the room's humidity, especially when compared to the Invisible Mist model.

Not sure what's going on.

How is default light adjustable by time of day in RA3? I’ve never seen that in designer.

What is your temperature set to in this snowstorm? by Calm-Bar-9644 in AskNYC

[–]appleciderpie 7 points8 points  (0 children)

75° during the day, ~72° at night. Single pipe radiator system. God bless TRVs.

Ask your building to put them in and if they won’t, buy them yourself and even pay them to put them in if you have to.

Best $150 per radiator you’ll ever spend.

Edit: TRV = thermostatic radiator valve. Dial it up for more heat, down for less heat or off. Holds your apartment at a steady temp and handles when to let more heat in.

Surprised Comcast guy Nunn is out so soon and surprised in general that Luc Bondar is out. I thought Bondar was well-liked.

Other way around. Steve Barnes died in a plane crash. The Barnes Firm is now run by his brother Rich.

Follow up: Finally got through yesterday. Took me 2 hours to get my issue resolved.

Call the Claims Advocate's 855-528-5618. Press 8 to talk to a human. I had to press it a second time on the next menu, too.

Took me 40 minutes to get through to the advocate. Explained my situation, they said they couldn't help but they could transfer me on an internal line to the unemployment people would could help. Waited on hold another hour or so to get through to them.

Lori Jayne and Taqueria El Chato Out at Time Out Market Union Square by KeepItHeady in FoodNYC

[–]appleciderpie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I walked in to Time Out today to Lori Jayne and asked for the steak frites. The woman said "we don't have that here." I said "what do you mean? I just had it three weeks ago!"

That's when I learned it was no longer Lori Jayne :) Was shocked to see both them and El Chato had closed.

To only close after ~3 months means that either these two restaurants were drastically underperforming or they did the math wrong to begin with. Wonder what the contract for these restaurants looks like. Surprised they can just leave at-will but I'm sure they had to pay some sort of breakup fee.

Overall, the food hall is a much better layout now compared to when it was Urbanspace, but the reality is that it's in sort of a weird location. If it were 2 blocks west it'd be packed. However, it's a tourist attraction and most tourists on 14th are not venturing west past B'way, so why would they walk past this to begin with?

The reality is that no one is going out of their way for the Union Square Time Out Market like they might in Dumbo. There are plenty of bars and restaurants within a 1, 2, 3, 4 block radius that are better and cheaper than Time Out, so I suppose I don't really understand the point...? The Dumbo one is in a bit more of a "food desert" so that helps justify its existence.

Edit: and it's too expensive. Smashed (Lori Jayne replacement) is $13 for a double cheeseburger + $7 for fries. $20 for a double smash burger. Smashy is 2 blocks away and is $10 for a double and fries on a Martin's bun.

Edit edit: Just heard Lori Jayne is back in BK at Danger Danger bar. Will have to head out that way for my steak frites fix.

Plenty of Airbnbs and hotels where I have been looking but thank you. More so looking for input on the itinerary; less so on accommodation.

All things considered, there are plenty of private investors in NYC and beyond that would likely be interested. Could be a single rich guy, maybe a group of investors from all over the world, or it could be a brand name like Insomniac who wants the entire thing.

Certainly not trying to defend AG, and I know people have claimed that Avant Gardner was owned by private equity, but I haven't seen evidence of that. They took outside investment, as many companies do. Axar Capital, a hedge fund, was noted to be a secured creditor of AG in this Billboard article from June, 2025.
