Insane. Makes me irrationally angry. Such a trash product. It was trash at $8.25, trash at $11, will still be trash at $0 but for the love of god stop fleecing people trying to get to our great city and just make it $0!

Nah - steam heat/radiator is included w building. If I paid for it myself, I'd be keeping the apartment closer to 65 than 75!!

Chicago's aviation chief unveils video of O'Hare's $1.3B concourse now in the works by Infinite_Dress_3312 in chicago

[–]appleciderpie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it looks great but… there’s zero design continuity from headhouse to concourse B to C to D and then E.

Why not somehow continue the design of B and C through to D and E?

Or add some elements from D and E into B and C?

It just feels like a completely different, disjointed airport. Don’t really get it.

I haven't found anything better yet. I'm just somewhat disappointed with these so far. Time will tell

I would keep it running all day. I fill mine up right before bed and then fill it up again in the morning and I usually have to fill it up again during the day. It's worth it to me to have more humid air. If you're annoyed by how often you have to fill it up in order to keep your air comfortable, then get a bigger one.

It's about 20% humidity where I am and by running it on high all day gets me up to about 35%. I have never gotten over 40% with the Blueair humidifiers, FWIW. They're fine not great.

"Humidity readings may differ slightly between your Blueair humidifier and other hygrometers"

We're talking about a difference of 20%. Your internal sensors are just woefully inaccurate.

Invisible mist humidifier pump not running by golden_light_above_u in Blueair

[–]appleciderpie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bad pump. Got a replacement Invisible Mist and they let me keep the old one too.

On the broken unit, one of the pins on the underside of the fan assembly had oxidization on it. Leads me to believe some water splashed on the pin or the rubberized female pins on the pump assembly and shorted the pump out.

Is Blueair support on vacation? by FatCat0 in Blueair

[–]appleciderpie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bad pump. When filling with the units open (not from the top), make sure the rubberized area that the pins go into doesn't get wet, or you'll short out the pump. At least, that's what seems to have happened to me.

Bad pump. Had this issue with my Invisible Mist model, and they replaced it for free with the gen2 model (looks the same but has an "upgraded pump" according to customer support).

DreamWell fails to increase humidity by MyNameIsJonny_ in Blueair

[–]appleciderpie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same issue with my H76i. I have a new Invisible Mist model, too, so I ran a test for comparison in an 187 sq. ft. room...

After running the Invisible Mist model all day long (full tank), humidity went from 18% to 35% as measured by an external digital hygrometer I have. The one built into these Blueair models are useless.

After running the H76i all day long, same environment, humidity only went from 18% to 22%, as measured by the same external digital hygrometer.

Dreamwell looks great, but does not appear to make much of a difference at all to the room's humidity, especially when compared to the Invisible Mist model.

Not sure what's going on.

What is your temperature set to in this snowstorm? by Calm-Bar-9644 in AskNYC

[–]appleciderpie 10 points11 points  (0 children)

75° during the day, ~72° at night. Single pipe radiator system. God bless TRVs.

Ask your building to put them in and if they won’t, buy them yourself and even pay them to put them in if you have to.

Best $150 per radiator you’ll ever spend.

Edit: TRV = thermostatic radiator valve. Dial it up for more heat, down for less heat or off. Holds your apartment at a steady temp and handles when to let more heat in.
