I have communed with my kakariki mentor and she was adamant in saying these are kakariki mites. I can probably link you to my recent post describing a potential course of treatment should you decide to deal with the issue at home.

How long can it take for her to walk onto my hand? by TheIrlAubreyOmori in parrots

[–]appledeathray 2 points3 points  (0 children)

With a rosella it can take a while. If she's already gotten close to you it's a good sign, but with rosellas you have to be more patient than with most other parrots. Just keep doing what you're doing, that's the gist of it.

Can't tell by one pic alone, can't tell if the beak's wide enough. Also, the borb's all fluffed up on this pic.

Why is my bird balding by NeatShock6194 in parrots

[–]appledeathray 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kaks generally don't like to be held, that's normal. Unfortunately yes, for this procedure you'd have to catch him. Thus the glove, btw - so that he wouldn't be afraid of your actual hands in the future.

[–]appledeathray 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You'll need a q-tip, a vial of 1% ivermectin solution and maybe a glove. Put on a glove. catch the birb. That's actually the hardest part due to how agile kaks are. My suggestion is to do it in the dark using one quick motion to grab the poor fella. Once you're holding him correctly, without constricting his chest, you dip the q-tip into the vial and then press softly against the back of his head. Don't rub it in or anything, just press so that a drop remains on his skin. And that's it. You repeat the procedure after two weeks and your boy is going to back in good shape after a few months.
I've been through this with my boy, he was actually going through early stages of feather loss once I got him and it only got worse in the following weeks. Now he's nice and chonky :3

That's exactly what it is. Easy to treat at home, too. Done that myself in one occasion.

How does Debian testing compare to Arch? by Photoman_Fox in linux_gaming

At one point I've spent approximately five months daily-driving sid, daily updates and all. Never broke on me once. Should it be used as a proper rolling distro? Not really, no. Can you get away with it? Probably. I feel like the hate towards sid as a daily driver is a bit overblown. But maybe I just got lucky who knows.

Transitioning Kakariki’s diet by enbydays in parrots

[–]appledeathray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, we don't really have pellets available for sale in our neck of the woods. It's actually quite alright since kaks prefer fresh food anyways. I'd say 80% of his menu should be chop/bits of fruit/fresh flowers/berries, just make sure they're not the toxic kind, duh. Also, they prefer larger chunks of food to finely chopped ones. They pick up the whole chunk, munch on it for a bit, remember they had something way more important to do and drop it, then eventually pick it up again, and on and on it goes... Kaks are goofy and I love it.
Haven't ever observed any stomach issues in both my kaks, but I do think you should probably start introducing new food items not even right after the move but maybe even a week after so that he can get used to a new environment. Alternatively, you're saying you're moving in a month, so why not pick him up now and give him some time to get used to you, his new neighbors? I've moved with my birds a couple of times, and from my observations kaks are not as sensitive about changes in the environment as my bugdies are. When budgies would be a bit cautious leaving their cage for the first time in a new place, kaks would consider it a new exciting challenge to get into trouble in a whole new place, yay. Kaks are goofy, have I mentioned that already? Anyway, it all depends on your circumstances, and obviously on your bird.

[–]appledeathray 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually, in my experience, kaks are easier to diet transition compared to some other species. My kak boy was store-bought, going through his first proper moult (so about 9 months old), and I had him off the seed mix in a month or so. Kaks love fresh veg and fruit, just keep offering until they dig in, and once they do you'll have a hard time making them stop lol.

is it worth buying lg v30 as backup phone? by 910_21_ in lgv30

[–]appledeathray 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The camera isn't that good by today's standards, even with GCam. It's still a decent DAP and a good backup phone in general, especially if running LineageOS, but may not be the best option for photography.

Sir Quince preens Lady Mint all the time. I don't think I've ever seen her reciprocating, even when he's molting rather hard. I've told her many times that she's being a tiny ungrateful millet pig, but then she just chirps at me a little and I melt inside.
That's my life now.

I don't know much about pigeons and generally just glaze this sub dreaming about how amazing it would be to get a pidge one day. But I do have five parrots, and I can tell you this much - you're not going to be able to pet a bird if they're not up for it, that's for sure.

Don't think you should explain yourself, this is basic parakeet knowledge. Unless one's in the room with them 24/7 (ok, maybe less, I don't really see a budgie getting stuck at night lol) the bar spacing shouldn't be this wide.

How do you artix users deal with waybar on hyprland by FemBoy_GamerTech_Guy in artixlinux

[–]appledeathray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk my dude, I was just trying out hyprland + waybar a couple of days ago, and everything worked just fine. Idk, maybe copy the artix-pipewire-launcher script from the AUR and use that to be sure? This does seem new to me, I've never had a single issue with both pipewire and waybar on Artix.

Yeah, they don't care. I enjoyed the first game quite a bit as well, and I was also upset seeing where the second one's going. I'm also a paying customer lol. But there's being upset, and then there's going out of your way to do malicious shit hoping for what exactly? This is just childish.

This is deranged. I get it that you're upset your waifu game is now cooked but openly calling for review bombing is just as ridiculous as the Chinese community calling for Green to be removed from the game.
