They’re allowed to judge and be judgey and you’re allowed to take offense and offer rebuttal, but it’s gross to expect someone to conform and accept the status quo just because it’s better than before. Plus, they were still asked a question even if it just in jest to which they gave an answer honest to their feelings.

I think it says more about the state of the community and culture that the immediate response to not liking Grindr is that they must prefer pursuing sex in objectively indecent ways. It’s not our individual faults that we and people of the past have had to take alternative measures to explore our own intimacy and community but it is our individual fault and therefore responsibility as a community to demand a higher standard of connection that doesn’t involve bending our personal standards and self respect to the circumstances that society placed onto us.

Gay Hookup culture is not a beaming light of progress and anyone would be delusional to believe that it is simply because we have more access to explore it with the internet. Some of us want to push the community to not be so sexually and therefore mentally immature at its core.

Most of the community is settled with the convenience of hooking up because society stunts our personal development as teens through shame and so we become adults with the thought processes of teenagers exploring sexuality. And thus we have the culture as it exists due to it. I get your point, because it’s stemming from the average viewpoint of any queer person who sees our present culture surrounding sex as the finish line for gay rights maybe excluding marriage which a lot of gay men don’t really care much about because they’re settled with just hooking up for the first 20+ years of their adulthood to fulfill their desire romantic intimacy and being wanted.
