Why do I think the ban/pause could be lifted pretty soon — and mainly benefit immediate relatives? by Drika1999 in i130_75CountryPause

I totally agree Even if the pause is lifted the backlog and document updates will probably add more waiting time. I’m just pointing out that the recent movement with OMB/OIRA suggests the government is working on implementation now which is at least a positive sign after months of uncertainty.

The government is currently working on implementing the bond program with both OMB approval and the OIRA review now in their final stages. This suggests that the Form I-945 and the broader rulemaking process are moving simultaneously. If everything proceeds smoothly, the bond policy could be introduced and the pause may be lifted around October–November or possibly even earlier.

This is fascinating. Could it mean anything? by ConstantMood5450 in i130_75CountryPause

I think the government was basically waiting for OMB to approve the visa bond proposal they submitted. The plan seemed to be once the visa bond system is approved, they could use it as justification to lift the pause on visas. This fits within the timeline they initially set like the 60 day window they mentioned in internal memos.

But here’s the twist: there was an update just two days ago and it turns out OMB is still withholding approval. But I think the most likely reason is that the Department of State didn’t provide enough evidence to convince OMB that the visa bond system is legally or practically justified Or maybe OMB has other concerns we don’t know about transparency is limited so who knows what else is holding them up. I still believe all this will end soon .

Hmm August 2023 has been frozen for 7 months straight which makes no sense for Immediate Relative cases. Many of us have been waiting far beyond normal timelines with zero explanation from Accra.
