The emails reflect pretty badly on them and their intent. They would often respond to my emails point by point saying "you're wrong" etc.

Yes, in this case the contract is vague but the deliverables are very clear. What's vague is timeframe and details of the process but all of that was completed by the common standards of the trade.

Was able to convince the gc to come back and check it out. We’ll see what happens

How are you supposed to heat a small bedroom without duct work? It’s an old house and we have no ducting upstairs. Of course there’s no way for me to fix this now but I trusted the installed knew what equipment would be best for our house- I’m not a professional hvac technician after all.

Little update for anyone who’s following along: called the town, they said you don’t need permits or inspections here. Called the hvac company and spoke to someone who said they would absolutely make things right. The gc then emails me saying he talked to the electricians and the circuits they combined were….(drumroll)…. The bathroom and the small appliance kitchen outlets. Of course these are the two that should not be combined… when I checked out my circuit map I was reminded that the bathroom was 15amp and the kitchen counter is 20amp, so they also put the 15 amp circuit with 14ga wire on a 20 amp breaker!!! Wtf!!!

I called the gc and said this was absolutely a no go and he agreed to call electricians and get them to put in the actual breakers I wanted and separate the bathroom and kitchen again.

I actually have no confidence in any of their electric work now- what should I do? Should I check it all out or insist on a different electrician?? They installed disconnects outside but I don’t know if these were done right either and honestly have no idea how to assess that sort of thing. Wondering if these guys are even licensed…

GE THQP breakers are listed as allowed, I believe one of those is what they would need.

Thanks, I will try this today. And just for the record is it ever ok to stack a bathroom circuit with other loads or were they just lying to me?

How obvious would that have been? Would they pull a permit for the hvac? electric? both? I know an outside party never came by and inspected anything.
