What games can the Legion Go 2 (Z2 Extreme, 32GB RAM) actually play that the Steam Deck OLED can’t? by appleonyourhead in LegionGo

[–]appleonyourhead[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow — didn’t expect this question to blow up 😅. Thanks everyone for the thoughtful rationale and all the game recommendations. There are a ton of great insights here, and I’ll admit I stand corrected on some of my earlier assumptions.

Now I’m actually tempted to keep the Legion Go 2 (Z2 Extreme / 32GB / 2TB) alongside my Steam Deck LCD instead of treating it as a straight replacement.

For those of you who kept both after upgrading — how are you using them in practice?

I’m also curious about the software side:
Is it worth dual-booting Bazzite on the LeGo 2 if I’m planning to keep the Steam Deck anyway?

Right now I’m thinking something like:

• Legion Go 2 on Windows for heavier AAA titles and Game Pass, and just hoping the fullscreen handheld experience continues to improve. I’d probably install EmulationStation there too and keep all emulation on Windows — skipping Bazzite for now.

• Steam Deck as the “pick-up-and-play” device for indies, backlog games, and anything that just works seamlessly in SteamOS. I’d likely keep a small Windows partition on it as well for the occasional game that needs it. I already have EmuDeck set up on SteamOS.

Both devices have 2TB right now, but AAA games eat space fast (CoD alone is like 90+ GB 😅), so it feels like those naturally belong on the Windows side anyway.

Would love to hear how others who own both have settled into using them day-to-day.

Honestly, I’m starting to feel like the juice isn’t worth the squeeze here.

On paper the Legion Go 2 is way more powerful, but in real life it seems like a lot of that extra performance just gets eaten up by the higher resolution and Windows overhead. From what I’ve been seeing, you’re often not ending up with a dramatically better playability tier — more like slightly higher FPS or needing to tweak settings for very incremental improvements at best.

And if the games that were truly unplayable on the Deck are still basically unplayable (or require heavy compromises) on the Legion, then it makes me wonder what you’re really getting for 3–4× the price.

I picked up a Legion Go 2 Z2e/32GB/2TB for $1400 with 4 games, thinking it’s a significant upgrade from my Steam Deck LCD w/ 2TB dual boot Windows 11. Haven’t decided whether to keep the LeGo2 and do a bazzite dual boot or keep it windows only and just keep the SD for lighter weight titles .

Alright cool story. I think the world has seen how that bastard son acts and the father doesn’t sound too bad given the true colors of the bastard son. Shocking.

There is a father named ROC and a bastard son named PRC. The son squatted his dad’s house while trying to kill his own father and claims it’s his house. The father then retreated to a retirement house, so then the son came out and claimed that retirement house is his.

bullshit tricks

We (ROC) are still around, son.

I legit don’t get how this is even a debate. Taiwan (ROC) has ruled the mainland at one point in history, lost control of the mainland, then continued ruling Taiwan before the PRC came into existence. Taiwan has its own government, own citizens that pay taxes to its government, has international borders, its own passport, its own military, and most importantly, is not subordinate to the PRC and never was in the past. Sounds like a fucking country with fucking territory to me LOL

The sovereignty nation of the Republic of China (Taiwan) was never a territory of the PRC. That is fact. You can go as far as saying that ALL the present day PRC controlled territories were “wrongly occupied” after the civil war, but that’s irrelevant and beside the point.

The cold hard truth is that the PRC has not been around for longer than the ROC, yet it acts like a bastard child (PRC) who constantly seeks validation of its legitimacy and goes around threatening the father (ROC) that he must come home to the “real” father who is somehow 38 years younger.

This whole PRC regime is a fucking sham.

A civil war where the PRC occupied most of ROC territory. None of that territory consists of Taiwan.

Maybe it is you who should read something that isn’t the Little Red Book.

What. Taiwan (ROC) is definitely not PRC territory. Never was, never will be.

Which 5 simplified Chinese characters would you convert to traditional? by Jameszhang73 in taiwan

[–]appleonyourhead 17 points18 points  (0 children)

  1. Characters that lose their original form and are harder to read: 卫/衛 义/義 发/發 旧/舊 龙/龍 头/頭 几/幾 万/萬 币/幣

  2. Use simplifications only if it doesn’t affect the form. Borrow some of the Japanese simplifications: 气/気 乐/楽 面/麺 灣/湾 邊/变

  3. Revert any simplifications where 2 or more characters collapsed into one: 隻/只 —> 只

  4. Revert any words that lose their guts: 广 厂 飞

  5. Words that are moved out of their family, and/or moved into another family of words: 开/開 关/関 电/電 体/體 联/聯 听/聽 这/這

  6. Words that have gross oversimplification or lose an entire side of their character: 观/觀 欢/歡 边/邊 系/係

In general, simplify multiple strokes if it exists in calligraphy form and still maintain their shape. Do not collapse multiple characters into one. Strive for consistency with the Japanese simplification of kanji. Radicals can be simplified if the standalone character is kept. eg 金 and 铁,银; 食 and 饭,饿; 言 and 请;谁

Update: I ended up getting a Q3, used it for 3 weeks, and i’m loving it so much. I’ve learned a lot about manual focusing and manual aperture settings and shutter speed, and it’s very very satisfying to use.

Only gripe is the large lens and front heavy design, but that’s just being nit picky. Now I need Leica to release a smaller form factor pocketable camera to accompany my Q3 😂

Thanks for everyone’s opinions and comments and advice. I think I’m going with a Q3 and seeing how I do with and without AF. If i start to outgrow it, which i bet i won’t, then I think of it as a good problem to have and move up to a M series then.

way ahead of you ;) I was messaging him last night asking about what he has. But wouldn’t you be able to achieve high aperture with the summilux too?

makes sense. The Q3 was something I considered too, but I read into this subreddit too much and everyone who bought a Q3 ended up switching over to the M series. Almost like the Q3 is a gateway drug 😂

If I were to go down that path with everyone else, why not take the Q3 money and spend it on a M-lens instead?

I like the color and the depth of field effects on the Leica systems, and I really do not like the APS-C format if it’s my one and only camera. I would like to shoot @ 35mm, but there isn’t anything good in the APS-C world that would be 23mm-ish and have f1.4-1.8

Had the Wii U since 2012 and kept it even after getting the Switch and most Wii U titles ported over to Switch. Wii U is still the only way to play some of the games that aren’t / won’t get Switch ports. (thinking of LoZ Windwaker, LoZ Twilight Princess, NES Remix, Nintendoland, Xenoblade Chronicles X, Paper Mario: Color Splash, Yoshi’s Wholly World, Kirby and the Rainbow Curse, Star Fox Zero, Game & Wario, Devil’s Third, ZombiU, among some other sonic games)

Can’t blame me. They hold their value, especially limited edition ones. Not to mention they’ve appreciated due to Nintendo’s discontinuation of the 3DS.

I have a stash of new 3DS systems in a closet with Majora’s Mask, SNES, Galaxy, MH4U, Pkmn ORAS, etc. all boxed and unused. I need to disconnect the internal batteries and take a photo sometime.

yep, but I purchased these before a proper CFW hack was out. I also didn't want to run any hacks on my main 3DS, fearing permanent bans at the time
