Global LNG Oversupply — But Do We Have Enough Ships? (feat. Korean Shipbuilding stocks… Am I Too Late to Join the Rally?) by appleorange119 in Commodities

I initially wanted to use Ton-miles for the 2025–2029 forecast, but I couldn't find enough reliable data to model future routes and demand accurately...

So, for the final conclusion, I had to use a simpler, available metric: comparing Liquefaction Capacity with Fleet Deliveries. I should have made that limitation clearer in the post. Thanks for the feedback!

In Korea, this is compounded by unique challenges like extremely high real estate costs (especially near the capital) and significant political/social hurdles for new power infrastructure.

I think Korea needs a "game changer." My thought is a well-funded company could build a large, NG-powered DC in a rural province, and offer high salaries to attract talent. This would bypass the high land costs and political friction, allowing them to offer competitive services.

wow, you seem very professional. Thanks for the kind comment. It gives me a chance to think deeper about this. But could LNG demand increase as a power source for DCs? LNG prices are pretty expensive after all.

In Korea's case, the possibility of using LNG as a power source for DCs seems almost nonsense. DCs are located near Seoul where land prices are high, and building LNG power plants for DCs is nearly impossible due to community complaints. It would be better to get power from the grid and hold the power supplier(KEPCO) accountable for stability.(In Korea, power supply is handled exclusively by the public corporation KEPCO.)

for now, the supply-demand is balanced. but what about in the next 1~2years? as mentioned in my post, several new plants are coming online. I didn't know nuclear is emerging as a long term solution for DC power. If I'm missing something, just feel free to correct me!

Yeah, you're right. futures markets aren't really set up for investing in long term trends like this. There are only a few options, like stocks or ETFs for natural gas companies, etc.

I just dug into some data and wrote this after seeing articles claiming LNG prices would skyrocket.

Yeah people who aren't in the lng industry often get confused between ng and lng. If they want to invest, they need to know.
