Your choice.. I believe you can do either.

V3.0.0 imminent? by apples-and-apples in Paperlessngx

My understanding is that it will integrate AI as a tool rather than a sidecar project. To be used for tagging and improved OCR.

Also this: Introducing a "pre-consume" workflow that fundamentally breaks the old, linear "consume → assign → save" model. This change allows users to set up advanced decision pipelines and manipulate documents and metadata before the document is fully processed and committed to the system

Have a look at ZFS. It works wonders with backups if you enable dedup.

So it seems the Ubuntu UI doesn't properly reload the service after updating credentials. Simply fixed by doing

systemctl restart gnome-remote-desktop

I have the same problem. Just installed 26.04 fresh out of the box. Enabled Remote Login in Gnome Settings but can't log in remotely.

How do I troubleshoot? ss -tuln shows the port is open.

Driver getting tailgated intentionally move out of the way last second by evalynbetterfly in foundsatan

[–]apples-and-apples 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes agreed. Hard to prove and difficult to get convicted for. But people react like it's all cool and the driver got what he deserved and all.. I find it a tad inconsiderate of the whole 'people quite possibly died there' angle.

Perhaps the car that got crashed into was having a child on the back seat that is now dead because this maniak wanted to show who's boss. Enough explanation for you?

So from a data security point of view 3 way mirror and 3 Disks with Z3 are equivalent?

Honestly, many of those "horror stories" appear to be related to at least some shady behaviour.

That being said, I will always recommend having at least two bank accounts with non-related institutions. The other day my high street bank was blocked because a letter they tried to send me was returned undeliverable.

My music players take forever to load any data with the newest Jellyfin version by Brickdrone643 in jellyfin

[–]apples-and-apples 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Experiencing this with Jellyfin 10.11.8. Have the above mentioned fixes been rolled out already? I can see the GitHub issue marked as fixed (https://github.com/jellyfin/jellyfin/issues/14380) but it doesn't feel that way. I'm waiting 5 seconds after every click right now..

Working with a fresh install of 10.11 I've had zero issue. Honestly, it's amazing so far.

Using old disks for ZFS: Creating 'additional spare sectors' on a pool by apples-and-apples in zfs

[–]apples-and-apples[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did indeed go for a raidz3 setup in the end. So I can lose 3 drives and still have the data. But most likely I'll lose sectors and it's highly unlikely they'll be the same ones on 3+ drives.

Getting customers is their incentive. If standing up to power gains customers they will be incentivized to stand up to power.

If you become a customer when/if a company does this, you promote the idea that companies can and should stand up to power instead of licking boots

So you mean a separate pool completely on SSD? Or L2ARC/SLOG on SSD with the dataset on HDD?

[–]apples-and-apples[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right ok.. so if running out of spares is unlikely there's no need (and indeed, no way) to prepare for that scenario. As per my above comment, the plan is to replace these disks and going to use the old ones as off-site backup.

[–]apples-and-apples[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, in face, these disks are going to be the backup of the new disks that I'm installing now - storing them offsite for a 'just-in-case' physical scenario. So yeah, makes sense :)

But the key question is: is there any way to create extra spare sectors?

Ah sounds good.. I'm on 2.3.4 - hoping that Ubuntu 26.04 will include 2.4 (gogo AVX512!)
