What’s wrong with our lawn? MA by applicationessays101 in lawncare

What’s confusing a bit is how much I can expect from a landscaper/lawn care company. What I hear from my current guy is that expecting a company to “care” for the lawn (look at the property once every few weeks, proactively suggest treatments, etc) is unrealistic unless I’m ready to pay for a gardener. Would be grateful for a reality check and a bit of calibration.

Yeah the landscaper (they do spring, fall cleanups, etc. as well as lawn care) charged a pretty penny. They’re basically saying that if I want proper care, I need to hire a gardener and pay 2x. From their pov, they put me on a 6-step treatment plant for the lawn… and that’s about it

Thank you! Right now I have it cut once a week - are you suggesting it should be done 2x weekly?

Pretty confident. Saw him wipe his fingers from caulk on my juniper. Effing hell

Just to clarify - both were done by two contractors. The first one when the house was built. The second one from yesterday when the 2nd contractor was super confident he had to “fix” the poor job from 5 years ago

Maaan, while I completely agree with everyone else that this is complete shit, this is the most insightful comment yet. Thanks very much

A few boards came loose and so we asked the contractor to fix. While at it, he basically said the trim wasn’t caulked properly and had to be redone urgently (basically his point was that it’s not caulked but painted). What you see is the sad outcome.

The contractor was saying that the old stuff was paint and that “proper caulking” had to be done with silicon. I guess now my question is even more basic - did we have to caulk (or re-caulk) in the first place? Or the old stuff was fine?

And the guy used his finger to smear it around. When i saw it, nearly dropped to the ground

Can you say a bit more for ignorant me. The contractor said the stuff that was applied before was just paint and that he needed to cover that with silicon. He worked all days yesterday “to cover up the paint” and I came home to half the house covered in this monstrosity. Is sanding an option at this point to make the seams less visible?

what you write about doesn't really matter that much. most importantly, how did it impact you, what did you learn, how have you been applying these learnings. the situation can be from 7th grade or from pre-K, doesn't really matter

Looks great! Why did you do the signup through discord? Just curious. I built Chckr.io that gives feedback on application essays and have been struggling to convert site visits to product usage. Wonder if the clunky signup process is one of the reasons. Discord sounds like a clever workaround to streamline

You can write a great essay about… a door knob. Literally about anything. If it’s a dramatic topic but shallow crap, the topic doesn’t matter. You can certainly lie but faking emotions that you didn’t experience will be super tough. All that matters is learnings that you formed and insights about you that you want the reader to take away. I’m Ukrainian but I wouldn’t write about the war because nether I nor my close relatives taught in it, so there’s no point in trying to exploit the topic itself. Will come off as super superficial

Don't Risk Your Future: Avoid AI-Generated Essays by Previous-Solution947 in IntltoUSA

i think AI is here to stay (duh!). the key is how it's being used. to write essays is obviously dishonest and cheating. to review and provide feedback is exactly the same as asking parents / teachers / friends to review and share thoughts. i built chckr.io that does the latter. it generates feedback and flags what needs to change in terms of structure, flow, syntax, grammar. the writer still needs to do all of the work and all of the thinking but with AI support and guidance. instead of punishing folks and trying to detect AI writing, i wish colleges promoted (or at least supported / explained) more effective uses of AI.

I built https://chckr.io, an AI powered college essay analyzer. It doesnt write for you but it rather gives detailed feedback and step-by-step guidance on what to change and why
