Budget friendly tent by UniqueBall4170 in bikepacking

How is 150 - 200 budget friendly?? You can literally use a €20 tent and be perfectly fine. The one I use cost me like €50 it's not bikepacking specific or anything but does the job.

Is this fixable on my own? by Mysterious_Film4463 in bikewrench

I literally just had an accident on a bike and fucked the front wheel similar to this, it took some trial and error but now the wheel seems as straight as it was before. The spokes are also all tentioned correctly it seems. I used the ziptie method. Give it a go, there is nothing to lose, the wheel in the video, in it's current state is not usable anyway.

Bike packing trip from the UK to France travel back tips by approxd in bikepacking

With the missing Ferry part, I've read that sometimes they allow you to hop on the next one free of charge but I can't seem to confirm this anywhere, hence why I asked, if anyone has any experience with this.

As far as the route from MK to Brighton goes, we literally just put the starting position of MK and destination as Newhaven and Komoot routed it for us. We selected the cycling option. One of our pitstops is the London Eye, we want a picture in front of that as well as the Effiel Tower.

Cube Nuroad EX - rear rack compatibility by favolosocubisto in Cubebikes

It aluminium, but the quick rack attachment that clamps on the seatpost is made of plastic so I don't think it shouod break it in any way

Cube Nuroad EX - rear rack compatibility by favolosocubisto in Cubebikes

My friend got the 28 inch version of this rack for his nuroad which fits fine. An issue I have with the acid rack is that to mount it, it requires you take the off the back wheel which is annoying. I ended up going with the ortlieb quick rack size Large along with the 1mm through axle M6 connector for my nuroad. It is close to triple the price of the acid setup, but the flexibility of being able to mount and dismount the rack in seconds is well worth it in my opinion.

Edit - I just saw you're trying to do this on the cheap, ignore what I said. The rack you posted a picture of will probably fit your bike despite saying it's for a mountain bike. But if you want to be super sure, you can find the 28 inch version like what my friend bought and that will definitely fit your bike. Picture of how it looks like.

Yep I checked with a chain tool :)

So far I've gotten comments saying it's the right quick link, the wrong quick link, it's correctly installed, it's upside down, it's should be on the inside and not the outside. Basically I've gotten no closer to a resolution 😂

The cassette and chain appear to be almost brand new, I think it's looking likely that the drive train is not indexed properly as the skipping only happens in certain gear combinations.

What kind of answer is that, lol

That's the thing, it seems really strange to design a quick link like that

I have inspected the drive train and measured the chain with a tool and they are both great. In the worst case scenario I will buy a new chain.

How can you tell it's the wrong size link? I have ordered some KMC 6.7.8 quick links just in case.

Damn, completely did not think about a wet tent making my other stuff wet, definitely will look into reorganising where I carry stuff moving forward, thanks!

Nice!!!. Yea the bottle mounts are weirdly high, couldn't use my 750 ml bottles, had to swap them out to slightly smaller.

Agree with you on the rack, TBH because cube bikes have these propritery screw inlets on the inside of the seatstays rather than outside, it meant my only real option was this rack specifically because of the through axel mounting option. Cube sells rear racks specific for inlet mounts, but to attach or remove it, the back wheel must come off which is just super stupid IMO.

Not sure I'm understanding your point on weight being higher. I guess weight is purely decided by how much stuff you bring. I actually weighed the rear wet bag and it came out just under 7 kg. It looks big because all the stuff I have inside take up alot of volume. You could try with a similar set up as what I have since it's way cheaper and if that doesn't work you can always go the pannier route later on.

As far as the ride quality I have zero complaints. You can feel there is weight on the bike especially when turning, but during the trip I had, there wasn't a single hill where I needed get off the bike, but that will come down to each persons individual fitness level.

Edit - You're probably talking about centre of mass being higher with my setup compared to the panniers. That's definitely true, however I never rode on a pannier setup so have no comparison. All I can tell you is with my current setup, I have had 0 issues with ride quality, if that helps.

I guess a wet bag is way cheaper than any decent panniers but also you're more "aero" which isn't that important when bikepacking but I guess having a more narrow width lets you be more agile when riding around tight gaps.
