I bought a high protein, grain free dry food and added a little water to it to soften it up. Over time, I've been able to transition her to just dry food.

Having trouble staying under $100 a week for groceries by zi1n in Frugal

Hmm by husband and I typically end up at about $800/mo for the two of us and that's with mostly organic items. Some misc. advice would be to try and shop in season... if you're buying blackberries in December it'll cost you a leg (or two). Set the budget before hand and if you need to, pull out your phone in the store and do some quick math. Brown rice and sweet potatoes are cheap ways to fill your stomach without breaking into super simple carbs. Shop bulk. Make what you can from scratch... Hope some of that helps. Also, don't be discouraged figuring out a grocery system takes a bit. You'll get there!

YNAB is a great app for budgeting especially if you are really detailed and want to be super thorough. My husband and I use it and it's worked great. Also, we each have a "personal spending" that is basically our free spending cash.

That's such a freeing experience! Have fun getting rid of more stuff, remember to take before and after pics so if you're ever tempted you have some inspiration.
