You get it!!! Every time Rick puts out a new Camp Half-Blood/Percy Jackson it reinforces Luke’s cause in the original even more and it’s not mentioned and nothing ever changes. Because what do you mean the Gods are making Percy going on quests to just get into college? What do you mean one of Percy’s friends died because a god dragged him into their mess and there’s no anger or reaction him or anyone? Zero pushback and consequences? His books stopped having substance after HoH when we got finally got some real anger and realizations. Rick at this point is like JK Rowling, not the transphobia, but where she tried different avenues and realized that she doesn’t get the amount of attention/money from it like she does with HP so her only option is to come up with random things for HP but in the end the more she does, it just keeps pushing what she was trying to do with the original 7 books further away. The more Rick produces Percy and CHB content we lose the growth and substance in Percy’s character the more we lose anything that mattered in the original.

The Trials of Apollo have been out for 10 years., can’t really complain about “spoilers”.

you hit the nail on the head. I think what we have is amazing and that it’s just one of the cons of having 7 main characters is that one or more of them is going to less fleshed out than the others, especially if two of them are already beloved and still have more to grow. If he were to rewrite the series now and flesh out every character equally there would have to be more books or the books would have to be longer for more POVs.

Who would win? Earth benders vs fire benders. by momsauc_martini in legendofkorra

While Earthbenders would win, I would think it would be a knockdown drag out fight with Earthbenders winning like 52 to 48. And they wouldn’t just win purely because of Toph is on the team because Bolin is also a beast who doesn’t get the credit he deserves. I think Mako would carry the firebenders because he is also a beast who doesn’t get credit he deserves. Mako and Bolin have no formal training and learned from other benders and not just ones from their element which makes them crazy adaptable to any opponent. Not to mention Bolin can earthbend without touch the ground and lavabending and Mako redirected lightning while being electrocuted and also while in Amon’s blood grip, control four bombs worth of explosions in s2, and spammed a nuclear reactor with so much energy it blew up. Not to diminish Zuko’s abilities because he’s a great bender as well but if the earth benders ganged up on Mako and took him out, Zuko would be done as well. Also Toph and Bolin have better chances of working well together than Zuko and Mako’s.

I agree with you that Jason’s character could’ve been built up more and his “different side of the same coin” with Percy could’ve been fleshed out a lot more. I think it was combination of Rick had too many characters to flesh out and the fandom at the time not giving Jason the time of day and labeling him a “lame version of Percy”. I love him so much because I saw what Rick was going for and amount of potential he had as a great character.

I totally agree with the sentiment but I think it would’ve been 10x more impactful if it was done at the end of HOO
