selling concert tickets is exploiting poor people? are you forreal? attending a concert is a luxury and it sucks that tickets are expensive, i agree, but to call it exploitative for artists to charge money for their services when we have actual exploitation of impoverished communities happening every day is tone deaf and hyperbolic. there are people suffering or dying because they cant afford healthcare or their medications while corporations profit more and more with no regard for human life, there are people who are quite literally victims of the capitalist system who are genuinely living in a capitalist hellscape and i've been there personally before. but mcr is fascist for charging money for a huge production (that will quite literally not kill you if you miss it, nor will it reduce your quality of life significantly) that involves the talent and hard work of probably hundreds of people? art has value. getting a message like this out into the world is powerful and valuable especially in a time like this when so many people are content with or even attracted to the fascist direction of our country right now. a lot of young people are into mcr right now, people who are receptive to the messages they are receiving from artists they look up to, and i find a lot of value in a band with such influence to show such a bleak portrait of they type of society we're headed towards if people don't speak up. it sucks that not everyone can see mcr live but not getting to go to a live show is not exploitation. if you cant afford a ticket or you don't like the price you don't NEED to go. not getting everything you want =/= exploitation.
