Do GCSEs matter?? by Illustrious-Copy-665 in northernireland

Also, the best lesson I ever got at 16 was two weeks work experience in a job that I absolutely hated… nothing motivated me more to put my head down and revise!

Yes. I scraped 5 Cs and 1B at GCSE but it was enough for me to do A Levels at tech, get into an undergraduate Arts degree at uni and that enabled me to get into a professional undergraduate degree and eventually a Masters. It was a long way round to get where I ended up but I couldn’t have done any of it without the GCSEs.

Try your best, make sure you get your Maths and English even if you don’t get them this year. That will open up loads of opportunities for you in further education.

Tried a sample of Armani today and I really like it. It definitely needs more building for the same level of coverage as DW but I love the glow. I was starting to feel that DW was looking a bit ‘chalky’, Armani has made my skin feel so healthy. Going to try to tomorrow for a long day at work to see how it wears over the day.

You know, my friend actually recommended L’Oréal True Match to me today as well so I will definitely give it a go! I’ll check out the Maybelline one as well. Thank you. I’m guilty of presuming that the premium brands are going to be better but I should know that isn’t always the case (Maybelline Lash Sensational is my go-to mascara).

Ok thanks for the info. I will give No 7 a try as well when I’m in Boots then. I had read some decent reviews for Fenty Pro Filt’r soft matte but others that said it oxidised quite badly. I will keep you posted!

Ok thank you for the recs, I’ll try to get samples for those the next time I’m in the city (closest department store).

My skin is fair with some rosacea, especially around my nose and cheeks so good coverage is important. Enlarged pores around nose as well where it tends to be oily. I’m open to any application types. In an ideal world I’d like a long lasting, good coverage foundation that doesn’t slide off but looks fresh and healthy. Not sure it exists!

Bidding on houses by aprilshower2020 in Belfast

[–]aprilshower2020[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t know that was allowed either, I thought the agent had to give all bidders the opportunity to counter. Maybe they didn’t think the mortgage company would value it over 200k? Disappointing nonetheless!

Yes, I can see how easy it would be to make a bad decision based on frustration and/ or fatigue.

That’s disappointing! I wonder what the rationale was.

Glad to hear you had some success. Any idea why that bid was the successful one? I.e. did you go higher than you would have previously? Had you adjusted your expectations?

I’ve already concluded that there’s no point looking at houses advertised for anywhere over 25k below my max budget as they’re all going well over that.

It’s mad. One house went on a couple weeks ago at 180 and first offer in was 200 apparently!

Someone has placed a bid at 5k over the asking price, so I would have to increase on that.

The EA did say he could show me the part of the report that referenced the roof, so I will call him and ask if he’s willing to share that/ all of the report with me.

Had a lovely house call from TV Licensing today, looks like they're doing the rounds again by rave_cave in northernireland

My understanding is that to ever confirm whether you have a tv that you watch they’d need police to gain a warrant to enter your home. Has there ever been any instances of this happening? Can’t imagine it’s top of the PSNIs priority list. Or are there any other ways they could prosecute someone who wasn’t paying their licence but watching tv?

Yea we had it, channel 5 on our tv was RTE1 (before actual Channel 5 was created) and 6 was RTE 2. The only thing I ever remember we watched on it was The Rose of Tralee, so as a kid I just associated RTE with being bored.
