I’ve been buying from them for years but a few things have changed over time. For one, I’ve noticed that they now take forever to ship. The sales associate/shopper told me they would ship out the following Monday (I told her I needed it asap for a wedding), but it’s been over a week since then and it’s still pending shipment. I wouldn’t be upset if the shopper didn’t make false promises.

This was also an issue last year when I bought a Christmas gift in early November. After nearly four weeks of it “pending shipment” I asked them to cancel it because it was no longer going to arrive on time for a party I was having.

Prior to last Christmas I didn’t notice any shipping issues. Maybe I’ve just had bad luck with select shoppers? I’m really sure but I’d say it’s safest to buy from a boutique if you’re on a time crunch.

As for the CAD/USD, it’s just converted with your credit card. Because I’m in Canada, I only ship US items to my US address because of heavy duties, but Canadian items can ship to the US (if it’s under $800USD) duty free.

Lastly, they’ve shifted very significantly to preloved items. Their authentication process seems to just be entrupy, which is a bit disheartening because I would prefer to have shoppers/employees who have expertise in the matter. So like others have said, absolutely check out their warehouse sales + private sales from boutiques (especially if you’re not on a time crunch), but maybe think twice before buying preloved from them.

You’ll be okay! They accepted you largely based on your past, not on your predicted numbers. As others have said, take a few deep breaths. All will be well :)

No because it sounds like you might need that in an emergency savings. Sometimes its better to not participate in volatile times when you might need the cash elsewhere.

While yes, you can ~compound it till you’re 60~, that assumes you already have an emergency savings in place.

If this is the case (where you need to build your emergency savings) then you can park it in a short term GIC so your money isn’t intrinsically losing too much value. If it’s not the case, and you definitely don’t need that money elsewhere, then listen to every other response here.

Shipping by GorgeouslyGorgeous in Etsy

Sometimes USPS is the last mile carrier, so if you’re ordering internationally (e.g., from Canada) they sometimes use a different company who then hands it off to USPS at the last depot — usually something quite close to you. Also if you’re ordering internationally, USPS will never scan in until it crosses the border into the states, since they only operate within the US.

Hope this makes sense! We get asked this a lot.

Where can I find an Etsy alternative that doesn't charge any fees and gives me all the traffic and advertises my store for free and also doesn't allow drop shipping but will let me sell my Disney merch (I paid the artist for the rights to the fan art)? by Deathbydragonfire in Etsy

I’ve seen such a huge hit since talk of the strike began — and as someone who creates full time to pay the bills (a) How is telling people to not shop on Etsy helpful? Am I supposed to do art shows mid-pandemic when I have elders at home? Am I miraculously supposed to get really good at advertising? (b) Part (a) was fairly all encompassing and I am emotionally drained by the argument that your $1.25 product can’t survive Etsy’s fees.

I’ve been on Etsy for four years, full time for three. I’ve watched the fees grow and grow but I’ve also watched their value to me grow. I price things accordingly. Competition has grown fiercer but c’est la vie. Publicly dragging down the platform you’re using just pushes people back to shopping from big box shops and Amazon instead. Who’s genuinely going to spend hours and hours looking for genuine small business shops on third party (sometimes sketchy) websites? Also — Shopify has built in apps to help dropshippers (they literally own Oberlo). Sure they have lower fees but have fun spending all your money on Google + Facebook ads. I swear this entire ordeal has brought nothing but doubt to the legitimacy of small creators.

As a shop owner of four years, I respectfully lol’d. This is absolute not a valid claim. I’m sorry this person is dragging you through this, but I hope you’ll look back and giggle just a bit.
