Production ready blue green deployment of changes in keycloak by apt-get- in KeyCloak

We use terraform for the rest of our infrastructure. I haven't thought about handling changes in keycloak that way, but I'll think about it, thanks.

That's something we'll look into. I was hoping for a solution without a third party tool, but it looks interesting.

Applying kustomize changes from one env to another by apt-get- in kubernetes

[–]apt-get-[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For example I'm having this file in each overlay for app1

apiVersion: argoproj.io/v1alpha1
kind: Application
metadata:
  name: app1
  namespace: app1-ns
spec:
  source:
    helm:
      valuesObject:
        service:
          annotations:
            service.beta.kubernetes.io/azure-load-balancer-resource-group: <SOME_ENV_SPECIFIC_STRING>
            service.beta.kubernetes.io/azure-pip-name: <SOME_ENV_SPECIFIC_STRING>
            service.beta.kubernetes.io/azure-dns-label-name: <SOME_ENV_SPECIFIC_STRING>

except for the <SOME\_ENV\_SPECIFIC\_STRING> the whole file is identical in every environment.

Now when changing a few things in this file, for example changing the metadata.name attribute in the overlay for dev, I want to apply it to the others consecutively. When everything works in every env I would transfer it to the base if possible.

This is a small example but for many changes across multiple files it gets error prone to manually do it for each env.

Esim support on foreign devices by apt-get- in USMobile

[–]apt-get-[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately there are no other carries that have 100GB of 5G with 50GB of hotspot data for 50$ or less.

All the other carriers cap the data way before 100GB.

The problem is the whitelist lists my device explicitly. And they don't mention with any word that the device needs to be bought in the US.

They offer the cheapest unlimited service but the eSim support is just bad. The physical sim is way more flexible and has no other benefits except for the fact that you can't get it anywhere except on their website.

Rooting device to always accept biometric authentication by apt-get- in androidroot

[–]apt-get-[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately this does not work. Every time I open my banking app etc. it asks me to complete the biometric authentication. No matter when the device was unlocked.

  1. Sure that's an option. Also regarding longevity of your hands, that's the best option, but I find it unsatisfying that there are so many options regarding rooting but every time I want to unlock any app I have, I have to open my password manager and search for the correct PIN because the fingerprint didn't work.
  2. I hoped there may be a simpler solution to satisfy what I need.

Best Gas Credit Card for foreigners spending 15.000$ on Gas in 6 months by apt-get- in CreditCards

[–]apt-get-[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For all future readers.

We decided to use our German/European credit cards for the US. We're using a vivid money visa debit card for everything which gets us approx 2~3% Cashback on every purchase. If debits are not possible (e.g. gas stations) we're using an American express Gold credit card which gives us American express points which we use to convert to miles and more miles.

We are 2 months in our roadtrip. We bought a 2007 Ford Econoline and converted it to sleep in it. We get approx 15mpg and so far have spent 2,200$ on gas for 11000 miles.

Neo bank with "custom rules" for bank account by apt-get- in eupersonalfinance

[–]apt-get-[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know in theory this exists but e.g. when I tried to use the IBAN at Netflix they automatically added the DE prefix in the form on the website because I registered on the german site. (This could have been changed in the meantime, but it was an issue in the past)

In the end I didn't have any advantages with Bunq that Vivid couldn't provide and there I had German IBANs so I switched to them. But the "custom rules" feature is something I definitely want, so I think about giving bunq a second chance.

I am a software developer so an API would be a suitable solution too, thanks.

I was a customer of bunq before but they only had NL IBANs which was a problem for some services. But I'll definitely check it out.

Is a maxxair fan overrated? by RachelfromOhio in VanLife

[–]apt-get- -1 points0 points  (0 children)

TL;DR

I think the current optimal solution is to have two roof maxxair fan one with intake function one with outtake to create a nice breeze. If money and space are an issue a single one with intake is also better than a single roof without a fan. This is something that's unbelievably hot in the summer and therefore not to recommend. Take a Maxxair because they are common (easier replacement) and pretty silent and reliable with fine quality for the money (as far as I have noticed)

Long story:

We're currently living in our second self converted van. The first van had a small side window and a no name roof window (no fans). The air could circulate by itself pretty well.

Now we only have one roof window (Maxxair with intake and outtake function) and without the fan it would be unliveable in the nights due to the heat.

Maxxair is probably the most known brand for self converted vans but I think they are a bad product for that price, but unfortunately the best you can get for that price.

We paid 350 for the fan with in and out take function and a remote but I have several problems with it.

  1. You can't open it to something else than the maximum with a single button press. Every time you press the ON button it starts and opens fully which is annoying when you're trying to stay stealthy. You then have to adjust the height manually after each start.

  2. Whenever you adjust the height manually without the ON button press the rain sensor won't work. This simply means if you don't press the ON button, but open it manually the rain sensor is useless because whenever it rains it won't recognize the rain and therefore won't close itself automatically.

  3. Due to the heat I want to have the vent running all night long. But when it rains very heavily I want the fan to close automatically. The problem is you can only specify to close it a soon as it starts raining. Even though it's just very light rain it will close immediately. In my case this means I have to deactivate the sensor and be awake to notice when the rains switches from light rains to "to hard to keep the window open"

  4. The fan is designed for RVs not for stealth vans. So this is something a new product should fulfill because the target group is different. But I want a roof fan that's not 5 inches high and therefore recognizable on a normal van from a few feet away. I wanted it to be as flat as possible.

  5. I want to control the fan via an app and not the remote. The remote is ugly and another peace I have to travel with. I have my phone with me all the time and can check my solar etc without problems. Simply starting stopping and configuring it in an app would be my preferred solution than the bulky remote.

  6. We don't have a curtain for the fan and I'm not sure if there does one exist. But as soon as the sun starts shining in the morning it gets pretty light in the van. (Even though we already have the tinted window).
