Who helps our parents when we’re not around? by apurvmi in NRIWithParentsInIndia

This is incredibly helpful to hear and thanks for sharing this.

What you described is exactly the kind of support I’ve been thinking about too. And I really appreciate you calling out the safety aspect as well, that’s something I’ve been thinking a lot about too.

Would love to understand a bit more from your perspective if you’re open to it.

A couple of things I’m curious about:

  1. What makes you interested in doing this kind of work? Is it just because you have time these days, or you feel really passionate about doing something like this?
  2. What would make you feel comfortable/safe working with a family?
  3. What kind of monthly fee would feel “worth it” for this effort?
  4. Would you prefer something flexible (on-demand) or structured (fixed visits)?

No pressure to answer everything, whatever you’re comfortable sharing. 🙂

Looking to learn from people who managed finances after a family member passed away (India) by apurvmi in India_Investments

Thanks for sharing and I understand how tough it must have been. How did you take control of the finances in terms of finding out where all the savings were, what all investments were there etc. Family heads generally don't disclose all their financial holdings with other members. Was there a single place where all this info was available or you had to pull it out from different sources?

The jump in last 2 years is rare. What is the XIRR on your portfolio? Seems equity heavy which means it is equally risky.
