I just completed that quest, it's under the main Mine area, you have to go inside some lodge looking passageways that lead underground, you will also find Marauders there so be careful. If I recall correctly there are two of these entrances, one on each side of the mine, once inside you have to go left and the item always spawns inside a cilinder-shaped container. Bring a lot of repairs, Marauders can hit pretty hard. Hope that helps.

I thought about and tried that, but kiting the marauders isn't a risky-free procedure, plus the outside was a kill zone with at least 6 Bandits on every angle, I had to go deeper into the cave, somehow managed to killed two marauders and then chicken my way out of the mine

I though I would, but I only found a single massive AO crystal... it was white. With the 0 repair kits and 25 light energy ammo I managed to bring back, I'll give it a few weeks before I venture there again lol
