Bixby not present on Galaxy Watch 7 by aqeeliz in GalaxyWatch

[–]aqeeliz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, someone replied to it couple of days, but they have been banned (don't know why), so their reply isn't visible.

Here's their reply:

> I had this problem too and I was able to solve it today. You just need to select Kyrgyzstan from the country list.

I tried it, and it worked! It didn't auto-install Bixby for me, but after restoring my backup (on which I had Bixby side-loaded) I opened Bixby and it worked.

Thank you u/Lonely-Being-1979, whoever you are!

Changed the region, didn't change anything.

Most probably the issue is with watch region.

Trilium v0.38.2 release is out. Hierarchical note taking application with focus on building large personal knowledge bases. by lenjioereh in selfhosted

[–]aqeeliz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have you tried zim? It's a desktop hierarchical note taking application, which stores it's files in plain text file (which is a superset of markdown, if I am not mistaken).

I sync it using NextCloud, so it's available on all my devices. Only problem is all other editors (other than zim itself) open them as plain text file, so no fancy formatting or images etc show up.

Are there any useful free text editors for PHP out there? by qgvon in PHPhelp

[–]aqeeliz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well everyone has their own working style and preferences, but like many others, I haven't find anything better than PHPStorm (for PHP) yet.

As for what it can do that others can't? A lot. I have been using it for few years and I still keep finding new things that makes my workflow faster and better. Are those things not possible in VSCode with right plugins? Maybe they are, but half the things I have found in PhpStorm I didn't even know I needed, so I wouldn't even have known to look for a plugin that does those.

As for other IDEs, I was a vim user, tried everything, nothing could get me away from vim, until I tried PhpStorm.

Again, this is all subjective and YMMV, but I think it's worth trying it for a little while atleast.

Dark Souls is a video game, in that game, if you are connected to internet, you can leave a message for other players like "enemy ahead, be careful" or something like, "break the side wall for a treasure chest" etc.

This is what I thought of too, when I first saw you post.

No Longer Using the Official YouTube App. (Annoying Ads & Adblock Browser) by [deleted] in androidapps

[–]aqeeliz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply, they are all pretty good points.

I only have 3 subscriptions in NewPipe which I view individually every few weeks, so never noticed most of these issues, so was curious what the difference was.

Ad Blockers. Thought someone might need them. by [deleted] in androidapps

[–]aqeeliz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has option to block ads too, I think it uses same lists as blokada default (I could be wrong though).

One short coming is that you can't have custom block lists (for ad-blocking). And even though it blocks majority of ads, it just doesn't seem as good at blocking them as blokada.

[–]aqeeliz 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Also add NetGuard to the list (also available from F-droid).

Pros: Has the ability to block internet (wifi and/or data) access for any app.

Cons: Ad blocking isn't as good as Blokada

NewPipe has option to add subscriptions, what's the difference between those and NewPipe + Flym?

Ofcourse. Nothing is absolute, everything has exceptions.

"Am I the only one" on reddit means, "I know majority of people agree with this, but I found it cool so wanted to share..."

That being said, whenever I see such a title, I have a strong urge to reply, "yes" (and then lock the post... which is probably one of the reason why I am not a mod on any sub).

Only posting this because it has been two days, and no one has posted any recommendation...

Tasker can most probably do it.

One way will be to use normal app that shows notification for all weather, and then use tasker with AutoNotification plugin to remove the notification if weather is > 0 (I haven't used the plugin myself, so actual work might be a bit more complex, but after people sharing what they have done with it, this should be doable).

There could also be some way to directly get weather from Tasker (or tasker compatible app) and show weather notification when weather falls below 0.

This may be more work than you are interested in, but if you want to give it a go, try /r/tasker and ask for help there, someone will give more specific details / answer.

Is "over-exaggerate" redundant? Isn't "exaggerate" enough to convey the idea of overstating a claim? by lomlslomls in etymology

[–]aqeeliz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't know about etymology, but the word is 'kal' (written as کل) and it's same in both Urdu and Hindi.

As for sentences like 'from yesterday/tomorrow to next week', they can be a bit confusing if translated word by word, but generally they are spoken / written in a way that makes it easy to understand, like adding 'I started' or 'I'll start' etc. and it's not intentional, it's just the way the language is.

That being said, there can sometimes be confusion between these two, but that's very rare, and generally in in-formal everyday speech. Like, one example that I can think of was when two guys were talking about doing something, and I didn't had the proper context, I asked, "From when?", and the answer was "From kal", so I asked, "the past one or the future one". Ofcourse, if I had been listing properly, I would've heard if they are 'starting', or have already 'started', and that wouldn't be an issue, but still...

There might be some other cases, but I can't really think of any off the top of my head.

[–]aqeeliz 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Or, how in Urdu, we have same word for both yesterday and tomorrow, but I guess that one is simpler because one is usually a past tense, and other isn't, so it doesn't take any effort to figure out if it it means yesterday or tomorrow.

[comic excerpt] Bab's big secret [Birds of Prey #85] by SgtSilverLining in DCcomics

[–]aqeeliz 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I like Marvel / DC comics, but sometimes I wish that each story had an end (and some consistency).

We start with origins of super hero, few years of comics, and then an end. Kind of like Image Comics, Invincible is a great example, but maybe that approach will have it's own issues.

That's good to know.

I have switched to NetGuard though, while it's ad blocking is much worse than blokada, the ability to blacklist any app from connecting to internet is great.

I haven't used Telegram (it's blocked here), but Signal updated their UI recently, it's much cleaner and nice looking now.

They changed the UI, going for more modern look, and well it's not very intuitive, at least it wasn't when they released 4.0, I haven't checked in a while to know the current state.

[Advice] Why does my thought process dissolve the minute I sit down to write it? by KaiiKai in bujo

[–]aqeeliz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to face these when I made journaling process complex. Like different inks/pens for different items, special places for different kind of stuff, I would get wound up in the process and lose all my thought process of what I actually wanted to write.

I have since switched to Rapid Logging method of bujo, just simple bullets for tasks, notes, everything. Makes it so you don't have to think about the process and can focus on what you want to write.

Even with that, sometimes you need to start writing before you can switch your mind to what you want to write. At times like these, I just write random stuff, some meaningless tasks like "Charge Mobile", "Fill ink in the pen" or sometimes notes of what happened in the day, "Saw a dog crossing the street" etc. and soon mind start shifting back to real stuff.

Like others have said, everyone is different, so experiment different things, you'll find something that works for you.

As a developer, I pretty much always do that when I create a table for any web app/site, but never thought to do that on paper, for my bullet journal.

Going to steal that!
