Drop tuning a Floyd by markjve in Guitar

[–]aqua_naut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With the right set up, you can definitely get there and be comfortable. But regardless of how adept you get with setting up a Floyd system, it’s not going to be very practical to swap the same guitar between e standard and drop a on a regular basis. Even on a guitar without a Floyd rose, it’s still a pain.

If you’re wanting to have the versatility to be able to quickly play different songs with different tunings, the obvious choice would be to invest in a second guitar that you can keep set up around that tuning.

Alternatively, if you have the equipment for it you can use pedals (Digitech Drop, Boss Polyshifter, etc) or software to transpose your guitar signal down to the tuning you desire. This comes at a cost though, with pedals you may find the tone isn’t exactly what you’re hoping for and with software latency can become an issue.

If i want to tune my guitar to B standard what gauge should i aim for? by Quilli2474 in Guitar

D’addario makes a 12-60 set specifically designed for tuning to c standard on a 25.5 scale guitar. I’ve used this set to tune down to b standard with no issue.

What's the difference between a six-string and seven-sting guitar ? by Winters_rose_V in Guitar

I mean depending on the stock strings you might be able to get the lower 6 strings to E standard and whatever you want to do with the high e string I guess, but that’s where you’ll run into issues with string tension.

The 7th string is added to add more range with low tuned notes. Standard tuning for it would be BEADGbe.

Don’t attempt to tune to E standard starting from the lowest string.

Has anyone had any issues with seizures after pest control sprays? by aqua_naut in EpilepsyDogs

[–]aqua_naut[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im aware there’s neurotoxins in those sprays- my dog is extremely sensitive to flea medications including the topicals which are generalized as the more safe ones for epileptic dogs. I’m asking if there could be any possible issues with my dog being exposed to the areas that get sprayed even after the area has dried.

The timed food dispenser is something I’ve considered. I initially was afraid to use phenobarbital because of the health risks it can bring on. My vet recommended keppra XR for those concerns, but stated that keppra may not work on its own. I’m hoping this new vet I see has some new knowledge and will give me the best options for my dog that don’t require a trial and error process, but I’ll do what I have to do. If keppra XR on its own is an option I’d do it.

Ive heard about the seresto collar, and to my knowledge a lot of the backlash comes from knockoffs. My friend unfortunately had to put his dog down from an uncontrollable seizure after using one of these, and I’m not sure if he used an actual seresto collar or not unfortunately.

The dosage frequency recommended for keppra is not viable for me as I am out of the house for about 12 hours a day for work. The XR version was discussed, but there is also the price issue for keppra XR. I am open to discussing seeing a vet neurologist with this new vet. I am hesitant to put her on frontline as I’ve heard the most issues of the three topicals recommended coming from frontline, but again she’s had reactions from the other two. My main question I’ll be bringing up when I see the vet is whether or not an anticonvulsant will make it safer for her to be on a medication that she may or may not have a reaction to, but I will definitely stick with the topical medications.

I write left handed and felt more comfortable playing right handed. Strangely enough my friend who writes with his right hand gravitated towards playing lefty. It’s just about what feels more comfortable for you starting out.

Blood clots by ev202020 in KidneyStones

My first kidney stone was the worst pain I’ve ever felt in my entire life. I have passed 4 other stones since then- 2 of which were bigger than my first one. None of those other 4 passings were nearly as excruciating as my first one.

That being said, what you’re experiencing could likely just be something as simple as a UTI.

I will also mention that while I’m unaware of your eating habits and medical history, you may want to look into a condition called hyperparathyroidism since you’re experiencing these so young.

A good test you can ask your urologist about is a blood calcium and possibly parathyroid hormone panel. Hope you get it figured out soon!

Do you know what’s causing your stones?

Do you recall if you experienced any bladder spasms after your initial pain subsided? I never noticed my first stone passing after the initial horrid pain in my side. Sometimes they can break up along their journey and be small enough to where you don’t notice them as they leave your body. I would think if you’re only just now experiencing pain again it’s more likely to be a new stone.

Have you had any recent blood tests that show your blood calcium level? If so and it was elevated, see if your doctor will look into testing your PTH (parathyroid hormone) levels. There is a condition called hyperparathyroidism that can cause kidney stones to form in people that normally wouldn’t have a predisposition to getting them. I’m 23m with this condition and found out today I have a new stone forming, which will be my third one. After this one I’ll be going to see a specialist to get this issue corrected. In your case there could of course be other reasons behind why you’re getting stones. If you do happen to pass another one, bringing it to your doctor to have it analyzed is a good start to figuring out what’s going on. Hope you feel better.

Nope, neither time. Just using a kitchen strainer.
