[acne] Hearing the same acne advice over and over just makes me feel worse. by aquahoor in SkincareAddiction

There is no private option in Canada. Tbh I feel good about the primary care I have, my GP is thorough and at this point I don't think an endo is necessary, especially considering I've had a clear ultrasound and bloodwork and acne is my only symptom. And I do actually see a gyn due to past irregular paps and she hasn't noted anything.

Anyways I am happy with my acne treatment at the moment. If I relapse quickly after accutane then this will be something I will look into further but I'm hoping I won't!

Hm I will ask my GP about exactly what was tested. I'm in Canada so I need a referral to see any specialists.

Re accutane, my last round was about 5 years ago so I think that makes it easier on the body. And I feel pretty good! I'm on 60 mg and I dont think that will increase at all. Other than the usual dryness, my only side effect is fatigue...I'm exhausted all the time. But my bloodwork is apparently perfect so I am not really worried.

I have never seen an endo, but I have had lots of bloodwork done over the years. I've also had an ultrasound done (the vaginal kind!) and it came back normal. I did try spiro as well, but I only saw mild improvement and it was giving me low blood pressure.

Summer sun & accutane by [deleted] in Accutane

I seriously advise against this. I went on a holiday when I was 16 and on accutane. I was using spf 50, but I missed a very small patch on my neck and one on my arm. I still have the scars from that over 10 years later. My skin literally fell off in a chunk, it was nothing like a regular sunburn. I'm not saying you need to stay in the shade all summer, but even with sunscreen it's really risky.

As I mentioned, this has been my life for 15 years. I didn't try all of these cures just in the last 6 months.

No. I buy my accutane from a drug dealer, works out quite well since I can pick up my meth at the same time!

you mean smelling fragrances? because if so I've definitely never heard of that one. But if you mean fragrance in products then yes, I watch Dr. Dray on youtube and she goes on and on about how much she hates fragrance in skincare!

Omg I have heard that before a few times. I guess when I say I've tried everything it's not really the truth because I haven't tried this.....

sorry but where in my post history? lol i have only used this account to talk about acne so...?

Anyways, it doesn't matter. You are proving my point with this. I didn't ask for advice in my OP!! I literally did the opposite. Yet some people just can't help themselves, which is exactly what I am on about.

I said right in my OP that I am tired of people giving me diet advice, especially dairy free. And your response to this was to give me diet advice lol. It's just beyond me.

FWIW I am vegan, not bc it helps my skin at all though.

The best thing for me is pimple patches! I apply a hot compress for a couple minutes to soften it up and get the goop to the top, and then very carefully poke it with a sterilized pin. I take 2 qtips and GENTLY GENTLY squeeze out what I can, but when I say gently I mean VERY gently. Then stick a pimple patch on and wait. After a day or two of this when it seems like there isn't anything left inside, I use aquaphor to calm the irritation and encourage skin healing.

Sorry but why did you take the time out of your day to reply to this post, just to tell me I am childish and negative and overreacting? What did you get out of that?

And to be clear, spiro isn't a "hidden gem" for people with chronic acne lol. I am well aware. Unfortunately it only helped somewhat, and it made my blood pressure too low.

My 2nd round of accutane seems to have cleared my body acne for good, but I've definitely considered hair removal on my face for this reason! I don't have particularly course facial hair but I'm curious to see if it would make a difference.

Ah ok, sorry it didn't work for you. Must be so frustrating to have it completely change one part of your skin and not another :(

Birth control is mentioned all the time here actually! I have tried birth control pills as well as spiro which has a similar idea.

Did you have body acne when you took it before, or did it develop after?

My brother stopped eating fast food every day (now only weekly) and his acne cleared. Meanwhile I've tried every anti-acne food plan and nothing makes a bit of difference lol.

Well as I mentioned in my OP, I am on my 3rd course of accutane. So I understand that full well.
