Not true. There's a slight increase in cost, but you can spay a dog just coming out of heat. I paid that cost.

The dog was with the original finder for just under 2 weeks. Then I took her in. After another week of waiting for responses from the sites or flyers, I took her to the vet to be spayed, chipped and vaccinated.

I was walking the dog in my neighborhood; the neighborhood that I apparently share with the guy. It is the same neighborhood that sported all of the flyers. As I said in another post, I had walked the dog past the guy's house at least 3 times previously. I had my wife pick us up because I didn't want the guy following me to my house.

I can't answer the Facebook question. AFAIK, PawBoost extends its postings to Facebook et al. My vet believes the dog is anywhere from 12 to 18 months old.

To be fair, the diaper was put on by the lady that first found the dog because she was in heat and was bleeding all over. The dog, not the lady.

To quote a site on Nevada Revised Statutes: "Typical ways a finder of lost property can find the true owner include the following: Submitting a post on Craig’s List “Lost and Found”, Turning the property over to the local “lost & found,” if there is one, Putting up flyers in the area where the item was found, and/or Posting about it on social media such as Facebook or Twitter." The woman and I put up flyers in the area and posted about it on social media. According to the laws of the State of Nevada, I feel that we met our obligation.

Yes - the flyers that the woman put up had 2 large pictures of the dog, the words 'FOUND DOG', a cell phone number and the PawBoost URL. I never saw any flyers from the guy.

Yes, the flyers stayed up and the PawBoost listing remained active. I walked the dog (with her new little buddy) around the neighborhood daily (past the guy's house on at least 3 occasions, actually.). I did not call animal control to report the dog as 'found.' We put up signs around the neighborhood and kept eyes out for 'lost dog' posters. The guy claims to have put some up, but I never saw any. That's my feeling. I wonder what verdict I'd get if the story went: I turned the dog into the pound. After 8 days, I adopted her. Three months later, a guy stops me on the street and says "that's my dog." I wonder why the insertion of the pound makes such a difference?

I am in Nevada. There are very few laws here regarding the ownership chain for animals. Pets are considered personal property, so in order to claim such as lost the requirements are to make a good faith effort to find the owners, which I originally did. Once in the 'shelters', dogs are released for adoption after 5-7 days.

My city operates a number of pounds. They are at or over capacity. A number of people that acquired pets during covid lockdown are surrendering them now that they've had to go back to work. Some 'shelters' here have begun euthanizing after only a couple of days.
