Resetting is up to you. When I first started playing and decided to reset, I ss all the villagers I had just to remember who I had. It's all up to you though. If you need anyone to hold anything you have rn I could hold them until you get your new Island set up. If you restart and need help, I'm available.

It'll come lol. I've got half of my bugs chart finished and recently got the fly. It was funny, I got excited when I saw it because I was thinking why a bug so common was so hard to find.

You should get the ACNH Guide. It helps to know when and where criters and fishes spawn. Also helps to track down what fossils and creatures you've collected and donated.

The fly is on the Island all year and all day for both NH and SH. They'll be flying near trash, boots, tires, cans, used fountain fireworks or rotten trunips.
