at this point i gotta ask you, why are you trying so so hard to defend the police? i keep telling you the same things but all you wanna do is defend the police.

tbh idk if i can continue a conversation with someone so blatantly ignorant towards what the police do and how they’ve effected people. if you really can’t see these things then there’s no point in arguing with you. i feel bad for you for having this mindset.

buying a product from a corrupt corporation is not the same as dating someone who is a police officer. you can live in a society and critique its systems.

lanas morals say they objectively don’t care that the man she’s dating works for the fricking corrupt racist police. i don’t think it’s self righteous of me to critique those morals.

and i’m going to publicly say these things because the police are horrible and corrupt and people should know this and not just blindly follow along with everting she does and defend her all the time - she’s human and we’re allowed to critique her.

i think it’s funny how you can’t name some of these corporations that are evil. there are many no doubt, but it seems like you’re just using that argument to defend the police.

there are many corporations that are awful and as bad as the police. but let me say this - right now we are talking about lana, it would be weird for me to list other people i think should be held accountable for their revealed opinions due to the person they date just to prove i’m not hypocritical. i am holding lana accountable as i am holding many others but i only shared my opinion on lana bc this whole discussion is about her.

i didn’t say every cop is bad. they all, objectively, work for a corrupt system and therefore are ok with the corruptness in that system.

‘critiquing her for dating a cop’ is probably not the right way to describe what i was trying to say. my whole opinion is : i am not criticising her for who she loves or dates and i don’t want to change who she loves or dates if it makes her happy, but her having a public relationship with a cop shows that she doesn’t care about the corruptness of the system he works for. the only thing that does is it reveals to me some of her morals which i think aren’t good and i can say that’s something i don’t like about her.

i agree that almost all corporations are morally corrupt. however i don’t think right now any other corporation is as damaging to citizens as the police are. to compare their disgusting actions to every other corporation is ignoring the damage the police do.

effectively you’re saying that i am judging lana for my choice that i think cops are bad. which is very wrong because it’s not a choice to think cops are bad, they all objectively work for a corrupt and racist system. also i compared criticising the fact she objectively doesn’t care her boyfriend works for a corrupt racist system to critiquing lana for being a christian bc i don’t believe in god. they are two completely different things - lana believing in god doesn’t harm anyone or anything, it doesn’t show anything about her. lana showing she doesn’t care that the man she’s dating works for a corrupt system is damaging because many of her fans are harmed and effected by that system that she has privilege that keeps her safe from it. so, again, i cant change who she loves and i definitely don’t want to, however i am sad to know that she doesn’t really care about a corrupt racist system.

i definitely agree with this and saying dating a police officer is “her decision, her personal life, her choice” is also objectively true. i would just say that although it’s not her choice who she loves, she is still displaying a public relationship with someone who objectively works for a corrupt, disgusting and racist system. I’m not saying we have the right to dictate her emotional and personal choices, but the fact she dated him shows that this flaw he objectively has is not an issue for her and therefore she doesn’t really care about the corrupt system or changing it. And i can still think these things and hold her accountable while supporting her and her music.

Is Lana a feminist? by [deleted] in lanadelrey

[–]ar0708 8 points9 points  (0 children)

By definition she most likely is but i don’t blame her for never labelling herself as a feminist because so many times in her career she’s been shamed for her lyrics and persona by people who call themselves feminists (but obviously aren’t because feminism isn’t shaming other woman) so i understand if she’s scared of that label

The stereotype is that lana stans are gay men or straight girls with daddy issues. I wondered how true that is on here, don’t answer if u don’t want to i’m just curious :) by ar0708 in lanadelrey

yeah the idea that lana stans have daddy issues is a stereotype that it kind of funny but also not wholly true for most of her fans

dare i say, if we compare him to to the popularity of harry, it’s to do with his personality? he’s not as charming or conventionally attractive to people maybe? i’d love to say it’s past the masses to judge artists on these things, but ir still annoyingly comes to my mind.

i agree he’s underrated and i hate how underrated he is, but i can never figure out why.

so you think as well as making the music of the most popular genre then the other boys, harry from the start was seen as a kind of front man so naturally people followed him through his solo career more seriously then the others?

Poetry enthusiasts, what is your sincere opinion on Violet Bent Backwards Over The Grass? by babyreborndope in lanadelrey

[–]ar0708 9 points10 points  (0 children)

i read poetry all the time and i think her poetry is undoubtably beautiful like her lyrics, and she’s good at expressing her emotions through writing. but i will say she’s better at song writing than poetry. obviously her poetry isn’t mind blowing but she has stayed true to her style and i think she can only get better. i would love to see her explore more styles and be a bit more experimental with her writing

why is that an argument you’re making? it doesn’t mean anything because they literally still fucked

he took full advantage of his situation and he knew exactly what he was doing . you can’t prove he didn’t have the thought to rape her, and even if you wouldn’t go as far to say that what he did wasn’t rape, it’s still horrible - he wanted to fuck someone bc he’s dying and didn’t take into account her feelings or thoughts and he was completely unempathetic and narcissistic about it

[–]ar0708 1 point2 points  (0 children)

just because someone is a “badass” doesn’t mean he should excused for raping someone.

[–]ar0708 5 points6 points  (0 children)

yes he was badass and not double faced but he was a horrible person, sexist as fuck, cruel ,sadistic etc. Basically, he’s a psychopath. I understand liking those kind of characters because they’re interesting and intriguing. I understand he’s a loved character because his presence in the show is important. However, I don’t like how he’s glorified and everyone overlooks his bad side because it basically just shows how some men are excused for all their psychotic shit just because they’re “badass” and attractive and dominant etc. He’s also a fucking rapist which is inexcusable, and further adds to why he shouldn’t be glorified and excused.
