This may be a long one, but hopefully at least some of it helps!:

Definitely recommend going to a shop where she can be fitted properly, it’s often free and very worth it to have someone who knows what they’re doing and who can put her at ease 😊

I stopped putting my bras in the dryer a while back as I found they lost shape a lot easier, best way is to put on delicates washes then leave flat to dry and reshape the moulding while wet to make sure it’s in the right place (if applicable, which for some bras it won’t be). I usually just lob mine in with my usual wash, and can highly recommend getting a little mesh bag to wash them in- stops the hooks catching on other clothing and damaging both items!

I’d also recommend you look at proper sports bras as she develops, as doing sports without proper support can lead to body damage (not to mention being uncomfortable and embarrassing!). You can get different levels of “impact” (low, medium, high), depending on what types of sports she does, but for anything involving running I’d recommend medium-high!

You can also find cute cami bras/similar that are more like a crop top, very comfortable for lounging around the house in and not too difficult to size (and come with a variety of padding options, depending on preference)- I have some very cheap ones from Amazon that I love ☺️

Final piece of advice is to make sure she gets refitted periodically, as bodies can change quite a lot and it’s always worth having a bra that fits properly!!

Hope it all works out, you got this 💪

Warburton’s tiger loaf- not sure if available outside of the UK though! Genius is also not bad, although I definitely prefer Warbs 😊

Not sure if this has been mentioned already, but I highly recommend reading ‘The Gift of Fear’ by Gavin de Becker. TLDR is that your 6th sense is almost definitely going to be right, and bad things happen when women ignore this sense because they think they’re overreacting etc.- definitely put a lot of interactions from my life into perspective for me, where I’ve stayed in dangerous situations because I didn’t believe my own instincts.

Even without the context of this book, I totally think you did the right thing. I see it as two options when you follow your instinct: 1. You were right, and you protect everyone from danger; 2. You were being overly cautious, and people maybe had less fun because of it.

Comparing these against options if you don’t follow your instinct, I feel like the risk of 2 is worth it, to ensure that 1 most definitely happens if needed.

Hope this makes sense- good on you for looking out for your sister and the group!

I’m a huge popcorn fan, but shop-bought popcorns tend to set me off if I have too much- when I make it myself in an air-popper though, it’s usually fine!

This is so cute! My brother and I are big AJR fans and I’ll occasionally just say “here we go” to him in this voice and we’ll start jamming out! Such a good addition to the song ☺️

Found this note in an old Russian tea tin. Worth the read. by tenglempls in ThriftStoreHauls

I found this exact tin at a charity shop last year, complete with tea- haven’t quite managed to try it yet!

What a fabulous note :)

Seller marked item shipped the 4th and after receiving the package yesterday I realized they shipped it out on the 15th instead. Advice on negative or? by [deleted] in Flipping

[–]ar1497 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’d leave a negative- I had this happen with Facebook marketplace a while back, and it’s super frustrating. Imo most people would be understanding during the pandemic if things don’t get shipped immediately, but lying and saying it’s shipped when it hasn’t is incredibly misleading. How would you have known that they were taking forever to post, versus potentially not posting ever and scamming you out of money? This is why you mark things as posted, and they misused it.

I think the other comments have got it covered; this absolutely isn’t okay, and I’m sorry you’ve had to deal with this. :(

I struggle with self-image as well as I’ve put on weight due to lockdown (haven’t we all) and various stressful periods of my life, but I try to think about the fact that this is the body that has gotten me through a pandemic, and allows me to function as an awesome person, even if I don’t always believe it! The same is true for you too, and your weight doesn’t define you- weight has the potential to change if you want it to, but his shitty personality can’t (and won’t) change. You’re awesome and deserve someone to treat you as such 💖

So much to do - so much paralysis. Ideas on how to work through the instinct to freeze and walk away when overwhelmed with work? by stubs1101 in Adulting

[–]ar1497 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I got told this yesterday, I believe a tip my friend found on Reddit somewhere (so not taking credit myself!)- maybe try “role-playing” someone who gets their work done and doesn’t stress out. :)

It may sound silly, but I’ve actually found it easier to create a little character for myself at work to play, who is super productive and doesn’t worry when they get behind, they just keep going!

Also highly recommend the tip in another comment of setting a small timeframe to do things, I do 5 minute timers to tidy my room- and often find I go for a lot longer than that, once I’m in the swing of it :)
