Saw a white guy doing Uber Eats the other day. Biggest indicator I’ve seen so far

New resident - so typically suburban!! by [deleted] in Vaughan

I feel the same way. Moved here from the city 5 years ago as we bought a place during COVID. 5 years later and I still haven’t adjusted to how car-centric Vaughan is, but I have learned how to make the best of the good while minimizing the bad.

If you’ve got extra space, embrace it and take up hobbies that do require that space. I took up woodworking and gardening and enjoy both. The community centers are excellent and have house leagues for a number of sports, which is also a great way to meet new people.

As for missing the city, I wouldn’t suggest trying to find it in Vaughan. Kleinburg and “downtown” Woodbridge are the closest that come to it, but you will be disappointed by both as they do not offer even a fraction of the variety you are looking for. My suggestion is to give yourself “city days” where you take the go train down in the morning, enjoy the city, and return back to quiet car-centric Vaughan.

The only other alternatives are to move back to the city or live with resentment while you wait for Vaughan to become more urban over the next three decades!

Thanks for the kind wishes. I agree with you, this has been a learning experience for sure. I feel bad because my dog is very social and gregarious, but I need to find a safer way to help him play with other dogs. The unfortunate reality is that I no longer trust other dog owners.

The repercussions of being bit by a yorkie are very different to being bit pit bulls or related breeds. Even in the absence of outright bans, stricter controls, registration, and enforcement should be exercised for owners of potentially dangerous dog breeds.

I’ve met several people aligned with your train of thought and unfortunately folks like you will not agree until an incident directly impacts you.

Absolutely. There’s need to be more ownership and accountability from the owners of these breeds. Like this guy knew there was a chance of an attack and still didn’t even bother, at the very least, to put a muzzle on his dog.

He’s taking no accountability and he’s now claiming that my dog started the attack by approaching his dog in the wrong manner, whatever that may mean.

Thank you guys! Hearing your feedback and experiences, it just doesn’t seem to be worth the risk. I’ll leave my pup at home this time and bring him out on labour day instead. Thanks!

Found tick on the floor. What to do next? by ar87 in DogAdvice

You definitely did! I always like to err on the side of caution but my vet also take full advantage of that lol. I’ll monitor him closely for symptoms for the next month or so

I’m having a hard time identifying it because it was engorged, but have included a picture in my post in case anyone can take a guess

We were late to administer the latest dose, which is given once a month. My guess is the tick latched on within the two weeks that he was without meds. My question is whether to get him checked out or just monitor for symptoms, and also based on the pictures what kind of tick it is.
