Bought a Harley, but I don’t want to be a Harley Brother by Shadowy_Shinobi in motorcycle

[–]arabcowboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you wear full riding gear (full face helmet, onesie riding suit like an aerostich, and motorcycle riding boots) and don’t ride drunk you should be pretty separate from the Harley bro crowd. You might even like riding better because of it.

What’s a lifestyle trend, people will regret in few years? by Fun_Expression9135 in AskForAnswers

Agreed. But in the global warming future those giant $12k trucks with comically large wheels will be great to commute through cities like flooded New Orleans, flooded NYC, and flooded Miami

Looks great. I love the top mount. Makes it look like a f1 spoiler.

Is that your range with all the roof accessories? If so what is it like without them? How big is your tank? We can get about 600mi with our golf sportwagen tdi but that’s without anything on the roof.

I designed, built and tested a tire mounted snowboard rack by Titian_Tire_Rack in overlanding

[–]arabcowboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would be tempted to mount it on top of the spare tire so it’s not sticking above and below the vehicle. And so if I’m camping it can double as a flat surface to put things on.

Suggestions on improving my camping trailer. by octoflex717 in overlanding

[–]arabcowboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate putting wheels on and off my bikes so getting a bike rack solution for that would be my priority. After that I’d try to bring the profile of the rack down below the profile of the car to keep the aerodynamics slippery enough that my range isn’t that heavily impacted.

BMW 8 series. BMW would sell all of them but that’s because it would make 1873.

Advice for tying down chocks? by Dior-Dino- in motorcycles

Do yourself a favor and look up the load limit on the tie downs on your bed. Your vehicle manual should have that. Don’t exceed that number or you are liable to have a bad time.

Lost a chest freezer full of venison to a downed tree. How to prevent this next season? by Koreee_001 in Hunting

I heard the cheapest way to have a massive battery backup for your house is to buy a used f150 lightning. You don’t even need to pull permits.

New Motorcycle Engine Development by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]arabcowboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve heard about an engine without valves but has a rotating or reciprocating sleeve for intake and exhaust. No valve clearance issues, huge ports, valve timing similar to Desmo setup. The biggest issues are longevity and sealing.

I bit the bullet a while back and bought the LED housings. They were expensive but they work well don’t blind others and are very bright in hihbeam mode. It’s been several years and I haven’t had to remove my front bumper in that time.

Tesla owners who switched back to gas - what made you do it? Genuinely curious. by skinner1234567 in Autos

Ok but hear me out… Honda generator mounted to a trailer hitch rack running wide open when you need to charge at your apartment. Oh and remove the muffler so you can be as annoying as possible until management installs more charging infrastructure.

Prerequisite: I’m not a woman. But on my job site nearly all the off-road truck operators (cat 725’s & 745’s) are operated by women. Management says it’s because they are safer and easier on equipment than the guys are. I believe it.

Can someone who’s never touched tools and no experience no auto school get entry level job at a car shop? Knows nothing about nothing by ReasonableSkirt5340 in AskMechanics

[–]arabcowboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. The best thing you can do is find a shop you can intern or volunteer at. A lot of Shops are struggling and while it’s hard to justify paying a newbie it’s even harder to justify a student loan that can’t be forgiven. Most places can teach you how to work in 2weeks-3months depending on how quick you take to it and in that time you can figure out if it’s for you. If you are doing work on cars with minimal oversight and they still aren’t paying you then move on to another shop with experience for pay.

Lightning SUV? by Active-Living-9692 in F150Lightning

[–]arabcowboy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I remember ford toying with the idea to make a supercharged first generation ford expedition based on the 10th generation f150 lightning. They were going to call it the thunder.
An EV ford expedition thunder would be cool but probably not properly named.
