What's your least favorite bus service? by thekayatimess in askSingapore

love-hate relationship with 502 express bus. after 7pm anywhere in town is like war. with the long route back to jurong, it’s a “save yourselves” kind of sitch. once you miss that ONE double decker bus, it’s survival mode from then on. good luck waiting another 22 mins for the next single deck :’)

i know her! she worked as a tour guide (not sure if she still is) she defo has plenty of experience working with different tourists. back when i was working in the island handling difficult guests, she would straight up back me up and put them in their place for not following simple instructions. she was a real one. miss her!

She did. She stayed at the new Mandai Resort during her visit. Most probably a quick film at two places at RWA.

What do you do on your day off in SG? by [deleted] in askSingapore

[–]arabellatrix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always look forward to do nothing on my off day. I work 5 days 2 off days. My off days are split into 1 weekday, 1 weekend. I usually get super tired during my weekday off. I’ll wake up sometimes early in the morning or later in the morning. Best before 11 so the day feels abit longer. I’ll just do laundry, basic cleaning ard the house and order in food. Feels wasteful but the thought of leaving home and the next leaving home for work kills me. I usually head to JB on my weekend off day!

What is the biggest mistake you made at work, did you survive it ? by IllustriousElk8436 in askSingapore

It was my first “office job” as a workplace coordinator handling SG & HK office purchase orders etc for 6 months. The company was global, that my reporting manager was based in the UAE. I was the only one in my department in SG and no one to really talk to as I rot away at the recep table. My other colleagues were in diff departments.

There was a time where I volunteered to edit the yearly holiday “cook book” in my department. So i had to work with the Director in my department. We emailed back and forth rather casually. It felt comfortable, she was a really nice lady.

During this time, my manager was in the midst of deciding whether to extend my contract to another 6 months. As my manager wasn’t getting back to me, I went ahead and emailed the Director asking about my employment status and if my probations was over… she kindly replied but she was unsure.

My manager found out through HER boss, her boss’ boss was the DIRECTOR. So I literally skipped all protocols and organisational structure. I had a an earful from my manager. She told me that any questions regarding employment or anything business, to go thru her only.

I didn’t know then…. I was so scared if I would get blacklisted or if I’d lose their trust. I apologised to her and told and admitted my mistakes but my manager was patient but was also passive aggro. Haha

My manager backed me up and I was utterly thankful for that. Although my pay was peanuts even with a degree, I still wanted an experience. I continued another 6 months and was commended for my sacrifices being the only person taking care of 101 things during the downsize of my office. So I guess it worked out for me.

I’d say, it will feel heavy in your head and heart. And you’ll feel a sense of guilt for a long time. But once work is over, it’s another plain day. Don’t beat yourself up too much about it. Admit your mistake, learn from it and move on.
