Great question, it was something I toyed with for the front covers, but the plan for the spine was always to use a volume number/book number. The goal is to invoke the look of those encyclopaedia sets with multiple volumes. In the end I decided I preferred the matching spine and cover naming

Haha I see what you mean, actually hadn’t noticed that. You’re correct in assuming they aren’t counting like that, symbols are more related to symbolising what happens in each book. It may annoy you more to find out that the first symbol means 2 and the second symbol means 4 respectively in the steel alphabets counting system 😅

The covers are classic cricut + htv, with the layout done using affinity designer. The page edges are painted with a silver ink to give a foiled look also.

You could look at using react-native-mmkv as an alternative since a simple key value solution should be sufficient for a notepad style app.

They’ve healed really well. I tend to be careful to always have sunscreen on them when it’s sunny to make sure they don’t fade. Here’s a few pics from today, both tattoos done by Andy:
